Save The Dates - Who?

Miss-b, 8 February, 2016 at 10:51 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello Ladies,

We have sent out our STD in the form of an email yesterday to all of our day guests, to save us some £££, but I suddenly had a thought this morning as to whether I need to send STD's for evening as well?

We haven't finalized guest list for the evening, but just wondered if others had done STD for evening guests?

Thanks!

We haven't done STDs, but I wouldn't send them to evening guests - people might assume they are coming to the whole day, and would be hurt and disappointed to later find out they're only invited to the evening.

We've only sent save the dates to guests who are coming all day. Typically people attending all day would need more notice than people only attending for a few hours in the evening.

Having said that, it depends where all your guests would be travelling from. If they aren't local and may need to arrange accommodation, you might want to let them know - we have received a 'Save the Evening' card for one wedding, which I think would be good idea of you *did* want to send STDs out to all your guests, as it saves the confusion/embarrassment when people think they are invited all day.

We only sent to our closest friends and family, some of our day guests didn't get a STD. We wanted to limit it as the guest list wasn't 100% fixed and to be honest it still isn't as we're now in the process of bumping up evening guests to full day (one or two people have RSVP'd no).

I would just send them to people that you know you definitely want with you on the day.

I would only send them to day guests too. A few years ago I got a STDC and then when the invitation arrived some months later I was only invited to the night so was a bit gutted haha xx

Yup, this. We gave ones to people who we wanted to make sure would keep the date free. (We had already told them the date verbally before too). Anyone else who can make it once full invitations are out is a bonus, but won't spoil the day if they can't come.

Just to bear in mind, if you do "Save the Evening" cards and then bump guests up to all day before sending out the invitations, make sure it's clear on the invitations that they are invited to the whole day now.

    Thanks Ladies!

I hadn't intended on doing STD for any evening guests as its just more work and I didn't think evening guests really needed that much notice, but just panicked this morning when it crossed my mind!

I seem to second guess every decision I make since I booked the wedding haha!!
