Hi everyone, I just thought that I should introduce myself as I've been reading all your posts for a few weeks and not posted much myself yet. Anyway, I got engaged to my other half on Christmas day - we're planning to get married in June 2014 but we've not booked a venue yet. We live in North Yorkshire and are hoping to have the civil ceremony and reception all together in the same place.

I have loved reading everyone's posts so far and especially the flashes. Probably the main reason that I've not posted much is that I look at a flash thread with gorgeous photos, then go off to look around the website (or google the dress/designer!) and end up getting carried away and adding to my own planning! Hopefully I'll have something to start flashing soon too - it's mad that I've spent the last three months looking at weddings on the net and still come here and find something new to 'ooh' and 'aah' at!!

Hi! Nice to 'meet' you! Have you ever been to Ox Pasture farm hotel? It's a best Western place but intimate and lovely. It's just on the outskirts of Scarborough and they have beautiful wedding facilities there in lovely grounds. We have stayed there a couple of times and loved it- we always said we would marry there but have gone for a church wedding now instead. May be worth a look xx

Hi all and thanks for the welcome ?

ty4t0 - Pinterest is something that I'm going to have to start I think - I started using OneNote on my computer which is quite good but pinterest definitely looks better!

mum-wants-a-hat - I've looked at Ox Pasture Hall on the net but not in person and it looks gorgeous - I love the beams and the setting for the outdoor weddings! What's put me off a bit though is that the main room looks quite big and we're only having 28 for the day do. We went to Simonstone Hall at the weekend and are going over Malton way this weekend to look at a couple more so we're getting about a bit!

Definitely take a trip there- I don't think the ceremony room is As big as it looks online. The setting is so beautiful too, and there's a cute wisteria courtyard between the restaurants and the accommodation. Rooms are lovely, food amazing and service excellent- at least it was both times we went. Treat yourselves to a week meal in the bistro and have a look around- if it's not suitable for the wedding at least you'll have found yourselves a nice romantic retreat ;0) xx

I think we will thanks - a recommendation is always good! I just went back to their site again when you mentioned it and have asked them to send me a brochure so that might be another nice trip out in a couple of weeks ?
