SCD

I nearly spilled my wine earlier. Don't normally watch this but "blink and you would miss" H's daughter was in the public blog bit. She was one of the cheerleaders. Go, Emma! ?

    Can't believe she's gone.

As much as it was funny John staying in to begin with, now he has to go.

They're going to have to re-write the rules to get rid of John. Much as I like the man, it's getting beyond a joke now and I hate to see good dancers get booted off because of him. I am half hoping he has the good grace to stand down.

To be fair, it's not JS fault.

He's a charming funny man and as there is an element of the voting public who will always see these competitions as being about personality rather than talent, then he's going tog et votes. And he obviously tries really hard. And his ballroom isn't "that" bad...

Having said all that I wish they'd stop.

I agree JS is rubbish but tbh it's not as bad as the year (the first year, I think?) it was on and that wee boy from Eastenders ended up in the final - due to stupid wee girlies voting for him cos they fancied him, no doubt. I guess at least JS is getting through on his personality, it sure ain't his looks is it ?

I think JS is being rather ungracious...watching him on ITT . I know it's just a reality show- but it clearly means alot to the other celebs who are left (let's face it, JS ain't gonna get a west end show, like possibly the out of work actors)- if it were me i'd be embrassed to stay- i'd thank the public for their support thus far and be asking them not to vote for me!

JS needs work as much as anyone. He may not get dancing jobs, god forbid, but this raises his profile which is all anyone on tv wants and needs.

I'm not voting for JS, honest, I just don't think it's his fault people do vote for him and I don't think all this fuss helps. Cherie was never going to win (she can't do latin) and I don't think anyone's gone out yet who's a potential winner so really, where's the problem?

I dont really understand the whinging thats going on in relation to this. whilst its a dancing competition, the structure of the voting means that inevitably, its actually a popularity contest, which is the reason why the less well known people tend to go out first. if the producers wanted it to be purely a dancing competition, they wouldnt have any public voting at all, but then that would mean no revenue from text messages, so dropping the voting is unlikely.

Did anyone else notice John and Kristina didn't come onto the floor at the end dance?

Tbh, I was watching something during the week and I completely agree with it. SCD is an entertainment show, with people who all have other jobs. None of them are going to become professional dancers and it won't affect their career if they win or lose. Yes, it would be nice to win but it really won't make that much difference. Shows such as X Factor and anything where it will affect their career and rest of their lives, it does matter.

John will never win and I doubt he'll even make it to the final. As someone else said, it's no different to the EastEnders guy in the first series. As long as the rules state that 50% of result is decided by the public, John is entitled to stay. I think people also need to remember that the celebs are doing it for 1) popularity and to raise their profile and 2) charity. Learning to dance is a bonus.

I've not voted for John but then I don't vote on anything like this. I did vote for Will Young in 2002 but I think I can get away with that. ?

I noticed they were conspicious by their absence too Mrs M, perhaps it's getting a little awkward backstage with the other competitors?

Surely if all the judges agreed to give just 1 mark each to John & Kristina then the public votes would alone would not be able to save them from the dance off? Then they would be able to vote them out?

For what it's worth i think it's unfair that they should stay in whilst other couples who are better in the dancing ability stakes get voted off.

I really don't get the fuss over this week's result. Two of the couples who were in the bottom 3 ended up in the dance off, implying that it was the relatively poorer dancers who faced elimination. The judges put Cherie and Lisa in that position in the first place! The potential for Rachel going last week from a high position on the scoreboard was a shock, this wasn't. I don't think it's unfair that J&K stay in, there are obviously people out there who want to see them and are willing to pay for that privilege!

Dooby - you are awarded points depending on where you end up on the judges leaderboard and where you end up on the phone vote - the amount of points the judges award matters only in terms of position relative to others, not actual score. So the judges giving one mark won't make a difference, assuming John would finish bottom of the scores no matter what.

I really like JS and don't mind him being there at all. I think he seems lovely and funny and while it's a celebrity version of a show like this, personaility will count for a hell of a lot when it comes to the public vote. Of course the experts can/will/should vote on the quailty of dancing but the same can't be expected of the public and so by the nature of the vote set up people like John will be kept in.

Plus it doesn't work like that. THey all give him 1s or all give him 5s - he's still at he bottom of the leader board, which gets translated into 1 point. It doesn't matter how far below the next person he is.

I'm with the others I have no idea what the fuss is about. It's all for charity and surely whatever gets the votes coming in is in the spirit of it? The public are not dance judges, I can only go on what I find most entertaining and if that was John I'd vote for him. He's having a fabulous time and works really hard so if he makes it to the final then great, he deserves to be there as much as anyone else. It's not like he's sitting on his arse all week and not training.

I really don't see why people are being so nasty about it and wanting the rules to be changed just to get him out. If John had gone this week then it would only have meant Cherie would have eeked out another week, it's not a big deal.

It's NOT for charity. There's nothing about the amount from each call going to Children in Need or whatever - the BBC are raking it in.

Personally, in my view, charming as JS may be, he's playing people. He's not been a student of the electoral system for nothing. ? I think it's fairly appalling that he's still in it, since he can't dance to save his life - you might as well still have Don Warrington there. Sadly, JS has in some way tapped into the "oldie" vote and they are retired, with nothing else to do with their time. ?

I don't really like anyone who is in it at the moment, so I'm not so wound up by it. ? I'd quite like Austin to win, but that would be ANOTHER sport bod, wouldn't it?

You're right LTP and I'm actually quite shocked, it has always been for Children in Need so there being no mention of it is quite a surprise!
