Scottish Hitchers - suggestions please.

I dont know where ALL of you live but maybe you live at a wee gem of a place.........

For my hen I have decided I want to go on a picnic, either beach or countryside. Needs to be somewhere we can go by bus or train, maybe followed by taxi so no one has to drive. Also needs to have facilities so we can have a pee! This will be happening in June when hopefully we will have some sunshine. St Andrews is an obvious one so it would be nice to go somewhere else. Any suggestions from you guys, easy trips from Perthshire for a day out, much appreciated...

What about the grounds of Scone Palace or Glamis Castle? They have lovely grounds and would be perfect to relax have a picnic and you could even go into them if you wanted?

Best beach that I ever went to (it's rather too far away) was on Harris it is a tiny little hidden beach absolutly gorgeous, too far away for your hen night however if you are ever on Harris you must visit it Smiley smile

I'm thinking Fife, Up North.... i'll keep googling and my bm is on the case too as she goes on camping weekends n stuff regularly..

I love the Hermitage near Dunkeld, I think there might be a bus stop just outside or you can get the train to dunkeld - it;s a lovely walk through the woods up to the waterfall with the folly overlooking it ?

There is Tentsmuir beach near Leuchars, would need taxi though as I don't think the bus goes out that far. Also further into Fife there is Aberdour beach which is very pretty and had toilets. There are a few beaches at St. Andrews so worth looking at them all and some of the beaches along the East Nuek are gorgeous. I am in Fife but now struggling to think of places will ask h2b when he gets home. All the best x

Elie has a lovely beach, and it's really picturesque. And there are facilities! And there's a nice pub right onto the beach called the Ship, which does good pub grub if it turned out to be not such a nice day. It's not served by train, but you can probably get a bus right into the village from somewhere (Kirkcaldy?), and the village goes right down onto the beach, so not far to walk.

There are places further west served by train, although I've not stopped at the beach at any of them, so can't comment on what they're like! (Aberdour, Kinghorn, places like that)

Dalgety Bay beach is different! I also like Aberdour and Elie and Earlsferry

? TeeHee - there are loads of beaches but the only thing to watch for is your transport! Most of the coastal places (Aberdour, Burntisland etc) have main train lines that you can get to from Perth so you wouldnt need to be running all over the place trying to get there on public transport!!!!!
