Seaside theme

Burnley debs, 23 November, 2011 at 17:44 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hi

I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself to every one

We are getting married June 2012 both of us are on our 3rd wedding so rather than go down the normal route we want a infomal party

We are involved with the local football club so have got the use of this for the weekend (with camping allowed for those who live to far away and the ones to drunk to get home lol )

And we live near the sea, hence the theme which we already have a under the sea bouncy castle, huge bouncy slide, beach balls etc

And have found a fab young bridesmade dress with Ice creams and helterskelters on it, a baker to make us a sandcastle cake etc

Bbt would welcome ideas on what to wear I am hoping it will be warm and do not want to wear a huge white wedding dress, baby blue would go lovely with the bridesmade dress I have even thought about the old fashion bathing suits any ideas would be great oh forgot to mention the men will be in hawain shirts with a blue theme. I am really coming up agaist a blank wall and would love to hear your thoughts

What about a bridekini (is that what they are called?) Smiley laugh

In all seriousness, if you're finding it difficult to decide, start my making a list of everything you know you DONT want, which should help narrow down your options a little. It's not the most helpful suggestion in the world, but it might give you a starting point.

Many congratulations on your forthcoming wedding and welcome to the forum Smiley smile

We have incorporating the seaside into hours.

There will be an ice cream van, candy floss & rock for all the guests.

We will also hopefully have one of those boards with a hole for you to stick your face in to have photos taken. =)

Oh love your ideas , you could have a campervan car ? I love the ideas of hawaian shirts or something for the men, you could have cropped trousers and blue short sleeved shirts. Sunglasses on Smiley smile x sounds brilliant ! xx

Hello Smiley smile Love your theme!

If it's of any use, I create bouquets made of buttons and jewellery - and anything else that can be wired in. If you wanted a seaside themed everlasting bouquet, then it may be worth considering this option. As an example I will be making a bouqet using driftwood, shells and deckchair material for a bride to be soon!

I think you need to avoid 'dressing up'.

You could get a destination dress - they tend to be made of chiffon so are floaty and draping. Much more suited to the 'beach'.

If you google blue wedding dress quite a lot do come up. You could chose one that has ruching and looks like waves to tie into your theme.

Get a fishtail dress as this can look a bit mermaidy

You could have a bespoke dress made. These are expensive (2 grand or so) but you could have blue elements added, organza seahells etc. Or buy a plain dress and have changes made to it by a dress maker.

Or, have a normal wedding dress and have the beach theme in your accessories so, jewellery, hair, bolero, shoes etc

Lots of options of how you can tie your dress into the theme without having to wear a bikini!
