seating plan and other bits n bobs

TreacleTart, 11 May, 2015 at 17:18 Posted on Planning 0 20

Look what we found to do our seating plan with - OH spotted it and its great, we'll have 9 pots of herbs (our table names are herbs) and stick little wooden sticks in them with peoples names on...

d'oh, dont know why its on its side.

Ive just bought OH cuflinks too - personalised with our initials on one, a little heart on the other and the wedding date stamped on the back...he wanted navy blue ones but impossible to find nice personalised ones so hopefully he'll like these.

I got pretty ivory dressing gowns for my bridesmaids and mom, and a pretty pale green flowery one for me.

this is mine...

and my dress finally fits nicely - went to try it on yesterday and its so comfortable now!! and OH's suit is finally sue in store this friday so hopefully thatll fit nicely.

had chats with our various musicians for the day and excited about that now, and get to see a mock up of our cake this weekend - cant wait!

yay to the finalised bits coming together!!

What a brilliant idea for a seating plan. Very original & not seen that before.

Love the dressing gown. Might have to have a sneaky look at that myself for a bit of glamour around the house!

Ohhh! we had the same table plan!!!! :-)

It worked really well and the really good thing is if you have to change it it's super easy to do.

Have you already got the wooden sticks? I found it quite helpful to do a mock up. The first set of wooden sticks i got weren't wide enough for people to read the names unless they were close up iykwim.

They do some wider ones but if you're struggling to find any wooden lollipop sticks are also an option.

Also had to experiment with the pen to use as some of them didn't work so well on the wood. Once you've got the hang of it it's dead easy though.

I've still got my pots and grow herbs in them (we had heather in ours for the wedding).

Ohh i'm so excited to see your report and see how it turns out.

ah thats cool! and its lovely that you get that little keepsake after the wedding of being able to grow your herbs in them! did you plant your heather afterwards too? yeah we thought if we couldnt get the herbs we'd decided on it didnt matter cus I can just write anything on the pots depending on what we get.

We have got our sticks, we've actually got quite wide ones (theyre actually tongue depressors, but theyre exactly the same as the plant markers we saw in homebase. We saw these gorgeous little copper markers that you basically engrave onto but that would have worked out really expensive just for a table plan)- i might write 2 peoples names per stick cus 7-9 of them might be a bit much in one little plant pot but definitely will do a little practice run on a few to see...i also have a a variety of pens so i can test them out and see which writes best :-D

I did keep the heather for a long time, but we don't have a garden so it died over the winter months presumably because it was too warm in the flat.

I really like having the pots with the herbs around now. quite handy having a table plan you can use later on ;-)

Oh the tongue depressors are a good idea!

I agree it can look a bit 'sticky' with too many of them. Another option might be to write all the names on a bit of cardboard and stick that in the middle on one of the sticks? that way the names are easy to read?

It's defo worth having a play around. Enjoy!
