Second thoughts on dresses

Charb4990, 28 February, 2014 at 11:23 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi everyone I'm new here! I got my dress cos I fell in love with it and found it online for half price!! It was almost 2000 and I got it for £990! My question is do you brides ever see pics of other dresses in magazines fb anywhere and think wow that's amazing and still want to try it even though you've got your dress?! I feel amazing in it but it's not what I originally imagined myself in (although a lot of people say this) but I sometimes wish I could wear 10 dresses for the day as they are all beautiful. I'm quite Lucky as I'm petite I can pretty much get away with any style. Just want a bit of feedback about how you all feel about your dress Smiley smile x

Constantly lol. Every time I do, I get the picture out of me in my dress and remind myself how I felt in it and that usually sorts the problem out ?

Thank god lol. I think it's cos I imagined my self in a lacy number with lots going on but I've opted for more of a classic satin Audrey Hepburn kind of look. None of the other dresses had the same reaction in their eyes from my mum and moh. And I felt great but when I see the dresses on the models I swoon lol. I think I need to delete the pages from my face book! X

Lol, don't forget those model pictures are airbrushed beyond belief and probably bear no recognition to how they actually look x

It's funny, even if I see a dress now that I think is just fab I automatically think "yeah, but mine's better ?" I just can't wait for it to come into the shop so i can go and try it on again (only another 7 months to wait lol) I never thought I would be like this, but ah well.

I got my dress 18 months before my wedding and had many dress wobbles. But, I chose it for a reason and still loved it when I put it on for my wedding day Smiley smile

Welcome to the forum charb4990. When are you getting married, do you have a proposal story to share with us? Love it when we get newbies! Can't offer any advice on the dress as I havent even started looking for mine yet, our big day isn't until 2016. I dare say I will probably feel the same, there are so many gorgeous dresses that I have seen online, I want them all!

I'm currently going through this also!

My dress is completely different to what I thought I would go for and very different from my normal style, which I think is what I'm struggling with. Should probably stop watching 'I found the gown' on TLC though...?

I bought mine in January, it was the very first one I tried on and becuase it was a sample sale I had to take it away with me. Its currently at FSIL's house and I've not seen it since (weddings not til Nov). I keep looking at others online and struggling to picture what mine looked like on and wondering if I'll still love it as much. She's bringing it round to my house tonight so I can show my sister tomorrow, and part of me is so excited to put it on again, but part of me is worried incase I dont like it. You're definitely not alone in having dress wobbles x

    Hi Charb,

Iv not bought my dress yet but am currently in the process on bridal dress shopping, been to two shops and my third is on Saturday. I know what you mean. All the dresses are lovely and they all look good, however I have still not found 'the dress'.

I think on your wedding day, when you put on your beautiful gown, it will be irrelevant how many other beautiful dresses you have seen since you purchased yours, as you will feel amazing, beautiful and be marrying your man, and so I would say as much as others look good, just know that on the day that wont matter. You chose your dress for a reason and that reason will become clear on your day. Smiley winking

I know what you mean though, as its the most important and expensive dress of your life, so it is hard to not keep looking at others. Especially when you plan your wedding there will always been dresses for you to look at in mags, internet and so on. But don't worry I am sure you will look beautiful. So whenever you feel doubtful just affirm 'I love my dress and I know I made the right choice for me'.

    Hope that helps. Smiley smile

    xx

I know exactly what you mean! I'm going through it at the moment! I get married in Oct and bought my dress in Jan from the first shop I went to. It was the third dress I tried on but both me and my mum cried when I put it on and it was the last one in the shop so bought it there and then! I absolutely loved it but as I haven't had it on since I forget what it looks like and it wasn't what I originally thought I would end up with! I do keep seeing dresses and wondering if I made the right decision but got to keep telling myself I obviously bought it for a reason and of course there will be hundreds of beautiful dresses that I'll see but I'm sure as soon as I put mine on again I'll feel like a princess! Just got to stop watching wedding dress programmes ha;-)

I spent weeks/months looking for a wedding dress and in the end I think I 'settled' for one just because of the reaction from my sister. Anyway, I had massive wobbles, tried it on again and didn't like it at all so I went back to basics and decided to try on the dresses that I kept looking at online. I kept on going back to my dress and Maggie ones. I went and tried my dress on and loved it - I picked it up from the shop yesterday and hadn't had a single wobble or doubt. I still look at other dresses online and think how lovely they are, but I don't really have any doubts that the dress I've bought is the one for me.

Welcome to hitched! I spend far too much time looking at dresses considering I bought my own nearly a year ago! I often look at dresses and think - oh I love that I wish I'd tried that too/wonder what that would look like - I even did this with a dress in the window of my shop when I went for my fitting yesterday! It's natural to have wobbles but the excitement about your dress comes back in waves too and you'll know it was the right one for you.

The dress I will lust after are dresses that didn't suit me at all when I went to try them on so I try to remember this too.

I tried it on again on Friday as it got delivered to my mums and as it's a 12 it's big but despite that I loved it! And remembered why I got it lol. So I can't wait for it to be taken in and actually fit properly then I will love it even more. My fiancé likes elegant and classy and that's exactly what it is Smiley smile currently watching four weddings on sky living and a girl (as gorgeous as she was) had a dress for £4000 but I feel it was too much for her lovely face. I Guess we all have different styles and opinions And that's why there is so many dresses to choose from x
