Second time Brides?

judeclarke, 21 September, 2010 at 10:10 Posted on Planning 0 7

How many second-time-around Brides do we have? I’m a second time Bride, my OH is a first time Groom.

What did you learn from your first wedding experience and what are you doing differently this time? (And don’t all say ‘I’m marrying the right bloke this time’!)

I learnt that no matter how organised you are something will crop up that you weren’t expecting. And that no matter what my Mum says it’s OUR wedding, not hers.

And of course, I’ve learnt not to mention the W word when asking for quotes – they double the price if you do!

Oh and I'm only having people I want there, I don't care if someone gets the hump because they didn't get invited or only got an invite to the evening. People are fishing for invites already, I suppose I should be flattered they all want to come, but if I'm paying it's my choice!

Moi! I'm learning errrr not to be pregnant this time (fingers bloody crossed!), not to scrimp on stuff because it will only annoy me and to give myself more than 10 weeks to organise everything.

Oh and yes he is the right man this time ?

This time around I am having what we want, NOT my mum. First time round I had bridesmaids I didn't want, a BIG church wedding I didn't want. Mind you I am 35 years older and Mum doesnt seem so scary now she's nearly 80 yrs old. Bless her! x

This time round I get too choose and I am loving it! Mother insisted I wore a boring cream suit last time because it was a registry do. This time OH really wants to make sure I get to wear the dress I have always wanted to. I also get too choose the flowers I want, not the ones Mother thinks are most suitable. Basically OH and I are making all the decisions, doing all the planning and I am soooo excited about finding the dress. We even have a great venue, something a little more exciting than the local registry. In summary, completely with you on the "OUR" wedding thing.

    Hi

Its my 2nd time, and hubby to be 1st time. My 1st wedding was abroad, so this one is different and going to be fab, its makes alot of difference having a partner u can actually rely on and who has alot of in put in things. And having my friends and family around this time.

I think i have learnt to ask for what i want and not to be scared to haggle prices.

    Sarah

I'd love to be a second time bride, but not sure I ever will be, but I am with the absolute love of my life so, one can hope.

No offence to the ex Mr SP like....!

IF I did get a second bite of the cherry it would be very understated, with very few people there - first wedding was abroad and amazing, and then we did a 'as good as the real thing' 'blessing' when we got back with 60 odd day guests and over 100 @ night. It was an amazing day and I thought it might just tweak things enough that me and ex-Mr SP would make it thru' ... but we didn't.

I would like a proper dress this time tho' as last time I had to consider a very hot beach wedding... but not sure if that would be a bit rediculous with maybe 20 guests at most, and a very 'non party' party!

Good luck to all second timers ...!!
