Sending invites?

loopy_linzi003, 26 December, 2013 at 21:09 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi everyone, can you all give me an idea of when you sent or when you plan to send your invites? I get married on a Friday in June, I have sent STD cards and have my invites almost ready to go. Nit sure when is too early to send? Xx

    Hey,

I think it's great to have got the STD cards out but I would think about sending the invites in Jan as people will be booking holidays and will also need to book time off work with it being a Friday (remember the summer months are always quite popular for time off).

I hope that helps Smiley laugh

I was thinking mid to end of jan, Xmas and new year hype us over but it's enough time for people to feel the need to book time off work if they really want to be with us. I just wasn't sure if people would think that was too early to receive an invite for June, but bit panicked about it being a fri xx

Oh no! We get married on Friday 29th August 2014 and we've not sent out STD cards yet.....we were going to send them mid-Jan and then the invitations in March.....is this too late? Surely the STD cards will give people enough notice to book time off work? We live in Scotland, so our Summer holidays are slightly different....schools go back mid August. xx

I guess it depends on where you guests will be travelling from. We have guests coming from as far afield as Australia and maybe even Dubai so we thought we really needed to give them lots of notice. We are getting married on the 3rd of June and we have started sending out our wedding party invites.

I sent my STD cards at end of sept as we have a very limited number of day guests (50) and although we have split it down the middle my family take up 70% of my number so I wanted people to know as soon as possible and get feed back ASAP if anybody knew they were away etc? That way I could invite other people. I've had no feed back as yet, but I know what booking hols can be like for people, especially in June/July and August so want to give them as much notice as possible. I have asked for them to RSVP on my invites by end of April so they have plenty of time to get back to me. I do have a doubt that jan maybe a bit early for me to send though. So hard to make a decision isn't it x

    Hey,

I don't think you're too late but rather that you want to give them, and you, a lot of time to respond and make other arrangements if necessary.

I get married on a Sunday in June... Plan to send invites in February if they are here in time... I've not bothered with Save the dates! But people are aware of wedding date on a need to know basis by word or mouth!

I'd never heard of STD cards before my sister got married a few years ago, and I think they're a great idea! They help plant a little seed in the guests mind about the date prior to the official invite being sent out, and ensures people have as much notice as possible for getting time off work. I'm a nurse and in my particular ward our rota is made up 2 months in advance.....meaning that any events arranged within this time can prove a bit tricky to get time off for. As we are a small ward with small staff numbers, there's little scope to swap shifts with others so I'm always missing out on things! I've got lots of nursing friends I trained with and have worked with so STD cards will prove invaluable to us.....plus, I can't trust my OH to get a Christmas card out to his friends let alone trust him to tell them about the date of our wedding!!! We were invited to his friends wedding in August and I kept asking him to ask his friend for the invitation as I only knew the date. Turns out OH was convinced it was in such-and-such a venue.....but we found out the night before the wedding it was in fact in a different town!!!! And even then we still had no proper invitation......the groom sent OH a photo-message of the invitation the night before!!!!

So I'll definitely be sending out STD cards personally, otherwise only half our guests will even know about our wedding! Smiley smile xx

We get married 5 September and will be sending invites out in January. Gives people time to book days off etc as the wedding is on a Friday.

I usually have a couples invites penciled into my diary around 6 months before hand so I've plenty of time to create them , for them to sort addresses out and have a good 8 weeks RSVP date on them.

    xx

    Hi,

I'm also getting married in June (and on a Friday). We are going to sent the invites out at the end of January with RSVP for the end of April. I need to confirm the final numbers with our Venue a month before so it gives us plenty of time for any chasing up.

We get married on Friday 28th March.

We sent STDs out at about 11 months to go. We sent invitations at just under 5months to go.

We'll start chasing RSVPs at 2months to go.
