Sept 2011 brides where are we at? ive been awol for 9 months!

nicam, 26 June, 2011 at 09:34 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi everyone!

Im getting married on 24th September. Last year a week after i had booked our wedding, a month after OH proposed I found out I was pregnant. Wasnt a complete surprise but I wasnt really expecting it either! Had my beautiful girl on 27th April and she is now 2 months old.

So now im back to wedding planning!! Slightly lost though as im not sure where I should be at. I bought my dress when i was about 16 weeks pregnant so im not in a panic for that - just need to fit into it now!!

this is what i have got so far

venue (all inclusive package takes care of a lot inc table plans and dj!), minister, transport, b/maid dresses & my dress.

Still to do

Need to finalise meal choice and buffet food with hotel

I have a florist but need to confirm with her what I want

Need to get shoes for me and b/maids

oh has to go book kilts

change my save the dates to invites ( vista print) - when are you sending yours out? I am getting married on the Scottish holiday weekend so im thinking i should send them soon.

Alterations to dresses - again when should i be looking at this? I have a jnr b/maid who will be 13 in July and is just sprouting at all angles just now so trying to leave it as long a comfortably possible.

Get a dress for my littlest flowergirl Smiley smile

right, so am i organised or am i not?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Welcome back, sounds like it's been busy Smiley smile

Doesn't sound like you have too much outrageously complex things that need doing, should be doable in the 3 months you have left.

I'd suggest invites out as soon as possible - chasing people in the last week or so is a stress that you don't really need.

You don't mention a photographer or cake above anywhere?

Hi, welcome back and congratulations!!! I was born on the 27th April (27 years ago!!), so a very good day.

I'm a Sept 17th Bride, i would definatly send your invites now. We sent ours the start of june and have only just got all our rsvps back.

It sounds like you have everything sorted, are you doing favours etc??

We had a productive weekend, got the last things needed for the favours, everything for the sweet buffet, and the dried stuff for our table centrepieces.

Next battle is figuring out why the hotel reckons they can't fit 10 tables in when they say that they can fit 180 for an evening buffet. Do they not put tables out for an evening...?

As a guide, for my dress, I have been told by the seamsress I can leave it until two weeks before at the very latest for any alterations so for your BM this might be an option but I'd ask now. Def agree getting invites out asap - if anyone is going to definitely need accomodation given it is a holiday weekend I would send an e-mail or set up a web address to let them know now so they have the best chance of getting a hotel (every day counts).

Good luck and enjoy the planning - get your hen do booked in! Just finished mine and it has been one of the best bits of planning, having all my very best girls with me was just wonderful

Thanks guys! Feel better now , not as bad as I feared plus baby is sleeping more now so I will have a chance to get online and organised.

AJ for some reason i thought your wedding was in April of this year and I had missed it!

Mini cooper i remembered you were my date twin im sure there was another 2 maybe 3 of us on that date too.

So from your replies i need to get my invites out as soon as possible that seems to be my first priority, then get dresses altered and chase up my sis (bridesmaid) to organise the hen night

I missed a few things earlier

favours - my colour scheme is royal blue and gold - ive got organza royal blue bags with gold stars which I am filling with haribos as its OH fav and he is well known for eating them.

    cake - ordered - 3 tiers - 2 choc & 1 vanilla

photographer - booked in Jan - have to meet with him to discuss what pics i want and where etc

I'm getting married on 8th September but we're going abroad.

I did have invites made up and sent those out xmas time to give family notice (although we did tell people over 18 months ago). Sorted the bridesmaids dresses and also my own dress which is being altered, my OH has a white linen shirt and beige linen trousers and also my eldest son. I have my side tiara and I've ordered my veil so in the process of having hair trials so I can take photos of them and bring them along with me so hopefully they can copy the style I want :-) havent' a clue what our cake is going to look like so I've ordered a cake topper and a sitting bride and groom to go on the side.

Got some organza bags which I'm going to put fresh Turkish delight into and have some fabric rose petals and butterfly place names which sit on the wine glasses (I'm thinking lightweight and non breakable!) and taking along some chinese lanterns to set on the beach afterwards as our grandparents couldn't make it.

Have no idea what to do with my make up - on a mission next week to get some! Also going to start making the bridesmaids wrist corsages soon x
