September 2013 brides

MrsB2013, 4 February, 2013 at 13:19 Posted on Planning 0 453

Hi

Since the other thread was actually a 2009 thread I thought I would start one for 2013!

We get married on 7th Sept in Scotland and got all the big things booked - just booked a florist on saturday so my next job will be invitations as making them myself!

How are the rest of you getting on?

14th September for me in Devon!

    I have done:

    Dress

    Tog

    BM dresses

    FG dresses

    Florist

    Cake

    DJ

    Given notice

    Suits

    Hairdresser

    Centrepiece/Venue decoration

    Decided on menu

    Rough guest list

    Still need to do:

    Invites

    Wedding rings

    MUA

    Favours

Presents for the bridal party/parents (made a start but keep adding!)

Plus all the little things like my jewellery, make a final decision on shoes (the hardest thing as far as I am concerned lol), music for the ceremony etc. There are probably a shed load of things I have missed out but I think I am doing quite well! Also don't need to worry about the honeymoon yet as not taking it until June 2014.

Still to sort out 2 junior bridesmaids and flower girls dresses, cake (picked just need to order), invitations which my mum are making, have filled in forms for notice just need to get them sent away, favours and suits, however my oh is recovering from a broken back atm so suits will be a fair while off yet.

I get married on Sept 20th & feel quite in control at the moment! My to do list still seems huge but I know I've sorted loads!

We gave Notice of Marriage today & I got tearful when they spoke about the ceremony!!! I'm going dress shopping again this weekend. I think I've found 'the one' already but want to make sure there's nothing better out there before I order it!

Haha like twins! Where in Scotland are you? Im in Edinburgh.

I have in my head how I want my invitations to look - whether they turn out like this is still to be seen! Not ordered anything or tried them yet - maybe should think about that.

When is everyone thinking of sending out invites? My venue needs final numbers 4weeks before so thinking middle of June to send them out

My invites will be made by next month & I think I'll start giving them out! Most all day guests have had a Save the Date anyway so are just awaiting full details. With me getting married on a Friday I want to make sure people can get the time off work! I think once they receive the formal invite it'll remind them to do that!

Was feeling very disorganised after seeing how much some of you have got done already so have been a busy bee this week!

    Paid deposit for photographer.

    Decided on flowers/ colours.

Been in touch with venue about tables (how many, linen, decorations etc), disco and guest accommodation.

    Contacted someone about cake.

Started looking at invitations and table decorations.

Feeling much more on top of things tho still got so much to do. Tasks for this week are to arrange appointment to give notice and decide on invites. When are you all sending out your invites? We haven't done save the dates, just told people.

We're having a registrar come out to the venue to marry us, not sure how it works with a church service.

If you're having a civil ceremony you need to book an appointment with the registrar. This confirms your booking with them & you fill in some paperwork. You are interviewed seperately & have to give your partners DOB & occupation & all your wedding details. The application for a marriage licence is then applied for & you find out whether you're granted one after about 2 weeks. They take you through the ceremony & your options & we were given an info sheet to fill in & return with what we want. The number to call, how much it costs & what you need to take should be on the letter you received after you booked a date :o)

So what's everyone's themes/colour schemes?! I'd love to see some pics! Here's my Pinterest board http://pinterest.com/welly1973/my-dream-wedding/

Brogstarbride, I'm a church service too, I am not 100% but don't think it applies in the same sense to us. Although we do have to fill in what I assume are the same forms, but the Minister/priest fills in their part on the form so I think this is why we don't have to be interviewed.

We are having registrar coming to the venue aswell - need to actually call and confirm details with them and prices after April (i think they could go up then).

We went to the venue last night for our first proper meeting to talk about the day etc so that was good - answered a few questions I was thinking about. Cant wait for the food tasting in 2months haha!

No you need to contact your local council and they will book an apt for you. You both need to give notice though and it's £35 each x

28th sept also, and feeling extremely behind....should I be?

so far got dress, church booked, venue booked and thats it. we chose a photographer but before we filled in her booking form that she had sent us she got booked up! its a cut throat industry!!

we have a back up so hopefully that will work out. havent decided what we want cake wise, or entertainment wise yet. Seen bridesmaids dress I love but need to get organised with getting bridesmaids together as one lives in Ireland.

we know what kind of decor we want and are in the process of collecting things together.

we also know what kind of flowers we want but they seem to be the most expensive...argh so needing to try and find cheaper varieties.

wow you have done your invitations.....are you sending them out extra early? we werent going to send ours till May, and plan to make our own.

and breathe.....and worry......and stress and panic

Wow that's mad about the photographer! Whereabouts do you live?

What flowers have you gone for? I originally wanted calla lilies but they're not cheap!

I've just ordered my invitations but won't be sending them out until April/May.

I'm quite organised I guess as my to do list seems quite a lot shorter! I had a quote for favours (mini jars of jam) months ago but contacted another supplier yesterday to compare prices. When they come back to me I'll decide who to order from. I've got a hairdresser coming round on Saturday to discuss prices & styles. I'm about to order my dress. I'm seeing my florist next week because she's got a wedding fayre at the weekend & is ordering flowers in that I'm having & has offered to make some of my flowers up so I can see what they'll be like! I'm really excited about that. I've got a make up trial next month. I'm having the bridesmaids dresses made & have put a deposit down on the material & chosen the style. I need to look for a flower girl dress & shoes for my little girl though. I've found some shoes for me but need to go & check out the colour & fit when I get chance to go to a store (they're from Coast) I still need to choose jewellery & underwear. I'm hoping my friend's tiara & veil will match/look right & they'll double as my something borrowed. Other than what I've just mentioned I just need to sort the finer details really like songs for the ceremony & first dance, readings & people to do them, a playlist for the DJ, photos to be screened at the evening reception & decide what food to have at the wedding breakfast!

Sorry I've waffled on a fair bit!
