serum for curly hair that you straighten?

fox-in-socks, 6 January, 2009 at 11:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

What do you use?

I have been using a GHD smoother, which i do like, but wondering if anyone had any super dooper recs that i should try out next. only stipulation is that they must sell it on hqhair as my brother got me a gift card from them for christmas.

i don't actually know if serum is the right term - i mean the product you put on while your hair is still wet before drying / straightening. smoothing moisturising stuff. is that serum? ?

Give Charles Worthington's Dream Hair a try, I put it on after I've washed my hair and blow dry, I haven't had to use my GHD's for yonks. Obviously you can use it with straighteners too, it just takes less time to get a good finish IYKWIM

It's quite inexpensive too, good luck Smiley smile

Frizz Ease is good although if I use it a lot, it stops working as effectively for some odd reason.

I have curly hair and have tried everything going. I've honestly never found one serum better than another - Asda's own seems as good as John Frieda, which seems as good as Loreal.

I find the only things that gives a better outcome to straightening are a) a good conditioner (which seems a very personal thing) and b) someone who can blow-dry hair straight and really well, first ?

I have been using MOP D-curl straightening balm for years, and it's fantastic stuff. Alas, I have now run out, and really need to get some more.

Do you think so GWTW? i can definitely feel/see the difference if i use a bad serum. it takes sooo much longer to get my hair straight and smooth. i agree re: good conditioner, though. i have a bumble and bumble one etm which i have been loving, philip kinsgley is good for my hair too.

have tried frizz easy before and wasn't keen. and i'm not sure CW will be strong enough for my pesky curls. erekt sounds like it might be a goer, and just off to see if they sell MOP...

    thanks all xx

See, I don't feel a difference at all. It may well be like shampoo though and everyone is different. Serum tends to rescue my hair from bad shampoo (like the lovely anti-headlice stuff I have to use at the moment?)
