Serving wedding cake alongside buffet or boxed up to give to people as they leave?

Mrsbushelltobe, 14 August, 2014 at 14:17 Posted on Planning 0 4

I've been looking into getting boxes for the wedding cake, so people can take a slice home with them at the end of the evening, but the venue has advised they will cut up the cake and serve alongside the buffet. My worry is we have a hog roast and bbq for the evening buffet with an ice cream cart, so will the cake be cut up and left to dry out on the side, while people dig in to the rest of the buffet? Should i ask the venue to leave the cutting of the cake till later and put into boxes for people to take home? or do away with it all and just let people have the cake in serviettes?

Why do the littlelest things to do with a wedding seem so important when normally i wouldn't care??? hmmmm

I was at a wedding recently and din't fancy any cake when it was put out, then later (after too many wines!) we wanted some, we grabbed a waiter and asked where the cake was and he bought us back a plate with a MOUNTAIN of cake on it for the two of us! (Honestly it must have been half a tier!?)

That story wasn't helpful, I know.

Ooh i never thought about this. We are cutting our cake at the reception and we have some cakes at the buffet and a candy cart as well

Not sure what the norm is, are you meant to box it up and give it as they leave? Or take it round the day after? I couldnt be bothered visiting everyone and giving them cake the next day. Ill have to find a dedicated box the cake up person at the reception, hmmm, not sure anyone will want to do this lol

I think if anyone were allowed to go near my cake Id probably have it cut and put into boxes for guests to take at the end of the night, maybe you could do that but leave some out incase anyone did fancy it, depending on how much cake your having.

Could you give people the option? Leave a few boxes near the cut cake, so people could take it away with them if they want to enjoy it later?
