setting up venue

Steph Baxter, 22 September, 2014 at 06:45 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi Ladies,

my venue has no bookings for the 2 days before the wedding (at the moment) so I'm hoping we can set the tables up on the Wednesday morning. My only worry is, if they take any bookings for the room on either the Wednesday or the Thursday which will mean we won't be able to set the tables up until the Friday morning which is the day we get married.

Has anyone else had to sort their venue on the morning of the wedding? I'm really worried about time etc as my hairdresser is coming at 10.30, which doesn't leave me very long to set the tables etc.

I can't ask my h2b to help as I don't want to see him on THE morning.

thanks ?

I think you need to delegate the setting up job to mums, aunties, uncles etc. Or consider booking a venue dresser to help.

You need to keep away from setting up and spend time relaxing & getting ready with the bridesmaids.

I hired an on the day planner and she did it for me. If you have people around you that can help on the morning, that would be an idea?

I was having some thoughts re this issue; I'm not sure whether there will be a wedding at my venue the day before (still got 12 months to go yet!), but I didn't want to be rushing around there in the morning when I could be drinking champagne and getting pampered! I looked into hiring a venue dresser however no one could give me a quote as I will be making all of my own decorations (not buying theirs).

The people who run the venue have now said that they will set everything up for me, which is incredibly helpful. Why not ask yours?

I plan on doing mine myself- I couldn't leave it to someone else, firstly because I don't want any guest being 'put out' but I also don't want anyone seeing it until it's done and I wouldn't trust anyone else to get it exactly right. The lady who is sorting the chair covers and table cloths has said she will be done by 7am so I plan on getting there at 7.30, hairdresser is booked for 10.30. I'll just worry if I haven't done it so it is peace of mind for me. I'd prefer to do it the night before but I don't think that'll be possible. I just plan to have everything boxed and ready, including individual boxes for each table with what is needed for each table and a plan of where everything will go. My MOH will be helping me and I've taken pictures of how I want it set up so she can just get on with her bits.

Yep, we're doing ours on the morning of our wedding too! Going to have to be up at 7am , at the evnue for 9am and then three hours of hard-core decorating before I have to start getting ready at Midday! Fortuntely I have got lots of helpers involved - my mum, dad, step-dad, two of my best friends and one of their husbands so I plan on writing a list of what needs doing and who I have allocated to do it! Sounds very military I know but it's needs some level of organisation otherwise we'll all be floating about doing nothing, lol!

If you can get people in to help you then it will take the pressue off and and make sure you have a list of what needs doing as then you won;t have to think so much under pressue on the morning. If you have to leave early to get ready then delegate to someone you trust. I know it's hard but if you explain what you want I'm sure they'll all do it lovely for you Smiley smile

    xx

Doest the venue do it for you in that case? Mine say that if there IS a wedding the day/night before we can leave a box per table with instructions and they'll do it. Surely they over that service? We've seen a few of their set ups and they do a grand job so i'm thinking of doing that anyway.....

Can you book out the evening before without too much of a cost? That way you can secure it for the evening before set up and your venue can still take day bookings.
