Shadows under eyes - heyulp!

Luthien, 15 February, 2009 at 12:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

I am really pale and as I am quite run down at the moment have really dark shadows under my eyes. I went out yesterday and bought some expensive concealer and new foundation.

What do you do to help with your shadows? Does drinking more water help? Cucumber on the eyes?

Any tips for regaining a youthful, not haggard appearance (not including touche eclat)?

I use a little tube of green colour corrector by Smashbox under my foundation which sort of counteracts the dark circles under my eyes and then Touche Eclat over the top. Works for me!

Hmm.... green helps if your skin is too red. If you're like me with purplish brown shadow then I'd suggest getting something orange tinged to counteract it (I think Bobbi Brown has something like that).

Otherwise, Strixaderm Eye SOS cream works for me to some extent. It's the only eye cream I use that I can see the difference on my skin!

I religiously use a Lancome eye cream from the primordial range, morning and night. I have really noticed a difference in the darkness of my shadows. I also find the general condition of my skin improves when I drink lots of water.

? Eyecream! Of course. Thank you. I want to try and tackle the shadowsrather than just make vain attempts at hiding them.

Going to sound odd, but haemorroid cream helps....I have used it and put it on at night it took a couple of days but it was good.

    Also eye cream.

Honestly? If you're pale and prone to dark shadows, really nothing will get rid - it's to do with the translucency of your skin. I've had this problem for years and tried every eye cream there is which promises to help, including Strixaderm SOS. No joy. Drinking lots of water and exercising helps a bit. Otherwise, the best thing I've found to negate the look is to sport a bit of a tan, as it reduces the contrast between my horrid dark eye area and my whitey white skin. I do, really, feel your pain, it's crap.

Shhhhhhhhhhh! I know, but I want to pretend that something will work. Mum says I even had shadows as a baby.

    I don't tan ?

I feel your pain - I have dark hair, blue eyes, pale skin and really dark circles under my eyes - and I religiously drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day if not more. I find the best camoflauge is mineral powder put on with a brush. I have also heard good things of Laura Mercier concealer so that is what I am going to try next!

I have a 14 year old daughter and she already has the black shadows, when she is tired she looks like a panda!

I don't tan either, I think I reflect the sun due to my extraordinary whiteness. Luckily, L'Oreal Sublime Bronze doesn't know this. A wiping on all over twice a week = gentle glow without being Orangina'd, and takes the focus off my punched-in-the-face eye shadows.

Fake tan doesn't even take on my skin. Honestly, I am so white that once, when in the bath, I attracted a moth. I must have looked like a light source as it dive bombed me and stuck to my wet skin. Mr L. thought something horrific has happened my screams were so loud.

Maxie - I am a make-up nitwit, is mineral powder difficult top use?

I thought the the guy on supersize vs superskinny on Thursday was saying that dark eyes were a result of lack of vitamin C and iodine in the diet but I may be mistaken

    Just found this though http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Rid-of-Black-Circles-Under-Your-Eyes

? Jo. Would be surprised if it's a vit. C. deficiency as I have a good diet. I do have stomach problems though, so I guess they are factoring in. WIll try the tea bags!

Nooo, not difficult! I use a flat brush and just a tiny amount on it at a time then just brush over the shadows. I use Bare Escentuals and got their brush as well, I think it was from www.feelunique.com .

I have that problem as well and looking at photos when I was much younger I've always had them. Scary thing is when I've tried to cover them it it looks so strange as I'm not used to not seeing them!
