I mentioned this on legless' dinner thread but it's still making me chuckle so thought I would ask for any weird and wonderful things/combinations you have eaten recently.

Mum and I were at my cousin's house for dinner last night for the first time ever. She normally comes to us as her and her husband work long hours. We started of with sweet potato and pepper soup, which was delicious. This was followed by lettuce, cucumber, tomato, slices of chicken breast (yum so far...) with a spoonful of Batchelor's savoury rice and a Bird's Eye Potato Waffle. Pudding was a Cadbury's Miniroll! ?

My granny was a dreadful cook and every Thursday my cousin and I would go for dinner. A normal meal would be a mince round (pastry case with mince and gravy in it, bought at the butcher), oven chips (I would get 8, my cousin would get 9 as she was older ?), a lettuce leaf, 1/3 of a tomato, cold 'niblets' (green giant canned sweetcorn) and about 10 pringles. ? We had the same main thing every week for about 2 months at a time, so it would be mince round, a sausage roll or something similar. Bless her heart. ?

I think my cousin has inherited our granny's culinary combination genius. It was still a lovely meal and we had a great night but it really made me smile.

Anyone have anything to share?

I love pancakes with plastic cheese, waffer thin ham & icing sugar ?

Also like Salt n Vinegar discos dipped in chocolate spread.

Quite often when I can't be arsed to make dinner, or it's too late to eat a big meal, I will have an evening snack of mature cheddar, apple, cucumber & quavers, but I don't think that is strange.

My Mother has tomato sauce with her roast dinner ?

My nan has it on everything!

When I was young I also used to love eating tuna sandwiches with chicken crisps shoved in too.

My MIL puts fruit in everything. A potato and melon salad was a combination I'm not too keen to try again!

And my dad was unsure of her bacon and strawberry sandwich (but he did say it was lovely!)

The cheese combinations aren't so weird to me, my family all eat Christmas cake and fruit with cheese. My weirdest is putting lumps of cheese into tomato soup and heating it until it starts to melt. My friends are divided over whether it's minging or genius.. I have to say though, there's little on this thread that I wouldn't try, I think it comes of living with an American, a Turk and a Mongolian for a year.

My H is another one for mixing crisps and chocolate (about the only thing I draw the line at) When those Cadbury's things came out, that are like chocolate Pringles, him and my best mate sat in a corner at a party with a box of each layering them up and eating them ?

When visiting my ex boyfriend at university he made me a bowl of super noodles with scrambled egg on top and a flourish of ketchup. it was almost like eating your own sick.

his brother used to make spam with noodles or pasta in a garlic sauce.

when my husband was a young boy his family survived alot on tinned mince with toast. Now the 'with toast' is important because i have told people that he used to have mince ON toast before to which he has replied " it's mince WITH toast not mince ON toast, mince ON toast is just common". of course it is my dear.

I used to be quite partial to either a potnoodle sandwich or a scrambled egg sandwich.

I must confess if I had to eat one meal for the rest of my life it would be peanut Butter, cherry toms, pickled onions and wotsit sandwiches

I'm quite partial to eating the odd oxo cube....also, McDonalds chips dipped into a McFlurry ?

At uni my H used to eat (and still does) skips, peanuts and cheese as a regular dinner.

    .

    ?

I don't think I ever eat strange combinations. I like to have all my food segregated on the plate and don't really like mixing them, slight OCD tendancies me thinks!

I'm not sure I have any odd food combinations but H does! One of his favourite meals is pepperoni pizza with cold baked beans (straight from the tin is ideal) and salad cream ?️

It looks pretty odd but he really seems to like it !

Nothing wrong with cold beans on salad, yum. My mum used to give me any old sandwich from what she had in the fridge, so I often had fig sandwiches, and occasionally cold tinned spaghetti, which was unbelievably disgusting.

I like mashed potato sarnies, with plastic bread, proper butter and a sprinkle of vinegar, I guess that's quite weird, but not exactly a combination thing.

    Odd combiantions....

tuna and banana on a pizza (got to be in a certain mood for that one)

Baked beans, tuna and Cheese either in a baked potato or mixed with fried onions and whacked in a flan case (Farty flan is how it is known in our house ?)

Quavers and a cadbury's Dairy Milk that's soft.

Hmmmm, my brother was known to eat instant coffee straight from the jar.

McDonalds chips dipped in their strawberry milkshake. Don't have it very often but yum!

Am quite interested in trying cheese and jam - ideas for lunch tomorrow! Also my H and I will quite happily drink a cup of leftover stock, chicken, veg or beef!

Cheese and onion crisps with salt and vingar dry roated nuts and a good dose of cayenne.

    Chocolate hobnobs with salad cream.

    Baked beans with ginger marmalade.

Have been known on occasion, (outdoors obviously) to bung the entire contents of a ration pack into a pot and and water and tabasco.

There was a slice of fruit cake on a cheese board "pudding" in a restaurant, not that long ago. I think it's a good combination.

I remember the first pizza shop to open round our way sold chip pizzas, never seen them sold since but wish they did. It was like a huge portion of cheesy chips.

I also used to eat tomato ketchup sandwiches.

I have to say that most of your combinations make me a little bit sick!

I do like plain crisps and tomato ketchup in a sandwich but that's not too odd, it's like a chip butty without the cooking!

Anyone who can should get themselves to an Asda in Wakefield and try some pork, chocolate and Bluberry chippolatas (they're only availabale there as it's the home of the competition winning entry).

They're made by the company I work for, from a competition winning idea, and are award winning sausages.

Unfortunately it looks like they're going to disappear forever, despite winning lots of awards for both taste and innovation.

Mr Roo can testify to just how tasty they are, as I managed to nab a packet that was damaged before they were binned.

Fruit cake and cheese (usually Wensleydale) is traditional in Yorkshire - not weird at all! The combination works well together IMHO; the cheese cuts through the richness of the fruit cake nicely.

I'm another Leeds born person who loves christmas/fruit cake and Wensleydale, delicious!

Also like tuna mayo with beans & cheese on a jacket potato which I used to have regularly in the restaurant at work many moons ago.
