I mentioned this on legless' dinner thread but it's still making me chuckle so thought I would ask for any weird and wonderful things/combinations you have eaten recently.

Mum and I were at my cousin's house for dinner last night for the first time ever. She normally comes to us as her and her husband work long hours. We started of with sweet potato and pepper soup, which was delicious. This was followed by lettuce, cucumber, tomato, slices of chicken breast (yum so far...) with a spoonful of Batchelor's savoury rice and a Bird's Eye Potato Waffle. Pudding was a Cadbury's Miniroll! ?

My granny was a dreadful cook and every Thursday my cousin and I would go for dinner. A normal meal would be a mince round (pastry case with mince and gravy in it, bought at the butcher), oven chips (I would get 8, my cousin would get 9 as she was older ?), a lettuce leaf, 1/3 of a tomato, cold 'niblets' (green giant canned sweetcorn) and about 10 pringles. ? We had the same main thing every week for about 2 months at a time, so it would be mince round, a sausage roll or something similar. Bless her heart. ?

I think my cousin has inherited our granny's culinary combination genius. It was still a lovely meal and we had a great night but it really made me smile.

Anyone have anything to share?

Christmas cake and cheddar is good!

At my first proper job we used to buy lunch from a place that sold the most delicious mayo, peanut butter, salad and grated (v.important) cheese baguettes

I'm from West Yorkshire and my grandma used to do the cake with cheese thing!

It has to be Wensleydale, then if no Wensleydale available its lovely mature cheddar

My nana used to make us save some of the gravy from Christmas dinner so she could eat it with her Christmas pudding ?

I like to eat cheese on toast with Heinz tinned spaghetti on top, which I don't think is weird but my family assures me it is and my sister likes to eat pea and mayonnaise sandwiches.

My mum is also partial to a bacon and banana toastie.

I love cheese on toast with tinned spaghetti on top and sometimes I go further and have a fried egg on top of that too!

My fave sarnie is smoked ham, peanut butter and sliced gherkin, its the yummiest thing between two slices of bread ever!

A schoolfriend of mine used to eat sandwiches with ready salted crisps topped with strawberry yoghurt. Yuck! (Funnily enough, I have tried and enjoyed McDonald's chips dipped in strawberry milkshake which isn't too far removed. The soggy sandwich bread made me heave though...)

The mars bar and apple sandwich thing is a staple at church socials and sunday school trips here in northern ireland. It doesn't taste bad, but a sandwich should not be sweet IMHO.

When I discovered geetas premium mango chutney, i dipped pretty much everything in it. Have calmed down a bit now ?

I had a boyfirned who put everything between two slices of pan loaf. Was actually a major reason for me breaking up with him: I realised I couldn't date someone who wasn't interested in food.

I think this is normal but I know its not to everyones taste. If I have beans on toast then there has to be marmite on the toast first - my dad taught me this trick and it is has been adopted by friends, ex-boyfriends and my husband.

Yes! But chocolate milkshake, not strawberry.

Also, tuna, mayo and peanut sandwiches.

Chocolate then ready salted crisps gives the crisps a really nice flavour.

We always have ready salted crisps on our christmas dinner. They go on a baking tray in the oven for a couple of minutes first. H thought I was a nutter the first christmas we spent together but agrees its nice and now accepts it as part of the meal. I would never do it for a normal roast though that always seems wrong.

WKB3S and I thought it was quite an obvious combo! Cheese added to anything is always a good thing in my book.

I used to like Kit Kat fingers with ready salted Hula Hoops on them. I am another who likes McDonalds chips with Strawberry milkshake! And squidgy white bread with peanut butter and pickled onions!

I love nothing better than a tuna mayonaise roll with onion ring crisps on it.

Also a cheesy beeno lover (cheese & baked beans on toast).

Hubs loves corned beef, mashed potatoes & beans all mashed up together like a dog's breakfast. He's also a pot noodle on a sandwich lover, and puts curried fried rice on bread too.
