Sheer Cover make up.

blimey, 1 September, 2009 at 08:44 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

Has anyone used this before? and if you did what was it like?

It's the one that that American T.V lady Leeza Gibbons( who used to be married to 'our Brian Tilsley' in Corry) sells on one of the shopping channels.

I think i might be getting sucked in by the hype, but, if it's good enough for Leanne Rhimes and the woman who played the goofy Laura ingles in Little House on the Prairie surely it can't be bad..?

Would be very interested if anyone has tried it....

Wow you get all that stuff for £29.99 think i'd give it a go for that price.

shame you can't get a sample of what you want then you could try it out.

    I've got it!

I got sucked in by the advert and couldn't resist, I posted on here to see if anyone had it, but then decided just to buy it, I did get a brand new sealed set on the bay so I didn't have to get sent the new supply every three months or whatever it is (although apparently you can cancel that and just order when you need it).

Anyway! I love it! The mineral foundation is really good and I have some red discolouration on my cheek that the concealer covers up really well. I hate liquid foundations and used to just use an all in one compact from Virgin Vie, but I much prefer this stuff!

My first interest in mineral make up was sparked by the Sheer Cover commercial. But I didn't want to pay that much money for something that might not work.

QQ - the concealer looks like a type of cream - is that made with minerals too?

I use Lily Lolo mineral make up which I find really good and much cheaper than Sheer Cover! I've heard good comments about Elemental Beauty too. So if you find Sheer Cover too expensive you could always try these (Lily Lolo sells small samples so you don't have to fork out for a whole pot and find you don't like it).

    HTH

haven't heard of lily lilo make up before will have a look...

at the mo i've been using benefit boi ing(?) on my cheeks and think it's quite good but nothing special. i would just love a foundation (powder or liquid) that manages to stay on for more than a couple of hours...

    thanks.really appreciate your views.

I can't speak for Sheer Cover but I use 'Bare Minerals' which is basically the same, but can be bought in department stores in the UK. I had a make over, love dit and use it most days now. Usually I never wore foundation because I couldn't bear the 'caked' look most woman sport when usig foundation. Bare Minerals doesn't look like I'm wearing anything but I've had loads of compliments about my skin - even my mum said "what have you done ot your face, you look all glowing?" And my mum never compliments me ?. I went to a wedding and three people who I'd never met before complimented my skin.

    No problem Blimey,

Obviously I don't know how it will be for anyone else, but I think it's really good and you really don't need to put much on, it'd not like caking your face in make up. One thing, It doesn't last all day for me, but Im not talking a couple of hours, it lasts a good 6 hours and then I just quickly apply it again (sometimes what's left on the brush is enough, I don't even need more make up) just to get rid of any shine.

You should try bay of the e, there are loads of people selling sets and individual tubs on there.

Jenbo, the concealer is a sort of cream so no idea if it's made with minerals as well. It doesn't block my pores though, it's quite light x

Totally unrelated to this thread I bought some of the bare minerals foundation powder yesterday off QVC. I liked the sound of it but decided to give a mineral powder a go by trying the e.l.f. version as it is only £3.50 for a little pot. I just wanted to see how it felt and what the coverage was like. I liked it and I'm currently flush enough to treat myself so I did!!

Great to see your post Janna, can't wait for my bare minerals to arrive now!

I agree with Janna that Bare Minerals is worth a look, I've tried everything, and I mean everything to avoid that cakey look and still get good coverage as my skin is very hormonal and my skin has never been better! House of Fraser and some Debenhams stores sell it and it's very reasonable for the length of time a pot lasts. HTH .x.
