Sheer wedding dress advice help!!!

Narasa99, 30 September, 2013 at 12:05 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi All,

Need some advice in the Undies department.

I've got my wedding dress, but you can see my undies outlined in it as it's rather sheer (Uro by Pronovias). Need to figure out what to wear underneath. The girl in the shop recommended getting a slip to wear underneath, but I figure it'll need to start just under the chest and go down to around knees to make it subtle....only ones I can find are tummy shapers which I don't want as I have issues with having my stomach bound up tight, thus this wedding dress!

Can anyone recommend good stores that just do loose Satin slips that would work in this situation??

Thanks Smiley laugh

Rachel

I had this problem when trying a dress on, they said in the shop they would add another layer under the skirt, can you ask your shop to do this?

The girl said they could but that all the layers they could add would actually be quite heavy for the style of dress so recommended I get a satin slip or similar from BHS etc...but can't find anything appropriate!

Could you try and find a seamstress in your area that may be happy to make one, am sure It wouldn't cost too much either.

That might be the way forward. I guess I could stitch a satin underskirt in under the dress and hope it doesn't affect the fall...It's just such a pain that there isn't some shop bought one you can get!!!

Yeah, everything seems to be body forming...it's slightly depressing!

I got a lovely black slip from marks and spencer. They did them in different colours and have a v-neckline at the front and a scoop neck at the back. It can be worn either way depending on the style of your dress.

    Hi,

I looked in Marks in Gloucester and couldn't find anything. I'll have a nose in Southampton!

I wore a pair of nude, seamless jobs from Debenhams (maybe M&S, can't remember). Have you tried similar? These will be about the best shot you have for discretion - if they still show, time to consider a lining.

Assuming I'm looking at the right dress, if you look at the rear view, you can see a panel of lining fabric underneath the very top of the back (presumably this is the panel that covers the boob part). This would suggest that any second layer is going to show right through. You would need a slip to be sewn in right up to that level.

And a serious suggestion but understand it may not be ideal - commando plus a severe wax?

Interestingly, this is not the first time I've read this about Pronovias dresses....

Have you looked in Primark? Not exactly your usual wedding supply shop, but they had something similar in the other week

You say about the wax...I have heard that from my MOH once, but no..I'm not quite that daring!

Yes, basically I'd have to have something that went straight up to the bust so it looked entirely normal, anything lower would show seams....However, I figure it doesn't need to be that long down the leg dept, as from that point on it's going to be swishy skirts...

Someone has already mentioned it but primark gets my vote here. I bought a strapless nude slip that comes just above my knee a few weeks ago. It's not a shaper but says its a 'static free' slip. It's washed well and was only about £8.

Buy a cheap longer slip, hack and stitch in to bra/dress?

I got a white slip from m+s, they did them in varying lengths which might help!
