    Hello!

Im getting married at our local church and then the reception will be held at Ringwood. We chose it as we have family coming from all over the country and there is plenty of accomodation on site. It has beautiful gardens and the staff are lovely!

Which venues have u looked at?

At the moment only Kenwood Hall in Sheff, but Ringwood is on our "to view" list

We both really liked Kenwood. We loved the character in the house but was too small for us. Here are a few I've found...

Aston Hall is really nice, they were having financial issues when we were there (sept 10) unsure if this has been resolved now.

Cutlers Hall in sheff city centre is meant to be really nice - we didnt view it as i didnt know it existed at the time.

    Whirlow Hall - lovely place.

Rutland Hotel - a friend of mine had her reception here last year, they do lots of deals and its a lovely venue too.

There are loooads of views out into the peaks which are gorgeous. All depends on what type of venue you are looking at. Ringwood have a bridal evening coming up towards the end of the month i believe if you havent already made an appointment to view.

OH didn't really like the Kenwood Suite (the bit separate to the main house) as he said it looked tired, and didn't want to walk down a service road to get to the lake.

The service road to the gardens and lake was off putting. Was the house not suitable for you both?

The house itself was too small (we were looking at the fixed price deal they have on at the moment) - but the only bit my OH liked about it was that it was separate from the main house

I see. You say it's the only place you have viewed so far, there are plenty of venues around. I hope you find something you both like Smiley smile

    Hi, Im from Worksop

My friend got married there last year & were told they had to pay for the whole wedding up front 2 weeks prior to the wedding because they were in such a financial state that they said if they didnt get paid then the wedding wouldnt take place.

Since then, I know they have been bought by someone else & i heard it was Premier Inn, So just a word of warning the quality may not be as good.

Have you looked at hodsock priory in Worksop?

A neighbour got married there a couple of years ago, and it was lovely, but looking at it now its out of our price range, and some of my family wouldn't be ale to afford to stay there etc. Where is it you are getting married?

BTW I'm just down the road from you in one of the villages outside of Worksop ?

Hodsock was out of our price range at the time, although you do have to find your own caterers so actually worked out the same as what were paying now with food included.

We're getting married in Blyth xx

    Hi Tray1980

we are getting married at kenwood hall, the kenwood suite, not the main hotel, the main room is stunning and very large, we are going for the all inclusive package, 75 guests in the day and 150 for the evening, we both have large families. we like the fact that we get the whole of the suite and its straight onto stunning gardens.

I am not from sheffield, from doncaster, and OH is from rotherham, but didnt like any of the venue local to us...

We looked at Hodsock priory as looks lovely but it was too expensive. We live in Chesterfield now so am getting married at Shottle Hall down near Derby. We've mainly looked down towards Derby/Peaks as I wanted countryside. I'm originally from just otside Worksop. How about Mount Pleasant in Doncaster? Never been but heard very good things about it.

We're going to take a look around Ringwood Hall on Saturday with the wedding co-ordinator there - getting him to agree to this was a battle as he didn't want to take our son (9) incase he played up

    Hello everyone ?

We're not getting married until July 2014, but have already decided on having our ceremony at the Bandstand in Weston Park Smiley smile Was hoping to put my deposit down today but it seems no-one was willing to answer the phones! (And I thought planning years ahead would ease stress!) Hopefully we will have a reception venue booked by the end of the month, we've had a look around the Rutland, as I've been to a wedding there before and really enjoyed it (also got a free nights dinner and accommodation to test it out to which is lovely) Going to look at Mosborough hall on Sunday too Smiley smile

My friend viewed Cutlers the other day and found it very stuffy. They started with a list of things you couldnt do. Also insist on you using their suppliers - even photographer!

Im getting married at Horsley Lodge just outside Derby as its halfway between my family in Sheffield and my other halfs in Leicester. They were a happy balance between having things on site and being able to do things ourselves.

Im going to a wedding at Chesterfields Red Lion on Saturday which I hear is very nice but Ill let you know.

Oh dear, The Cutlers was already a No for me, 2 of my best friends worked there when we started college, 1 is still there part time, and the things they've told me ? not to mention I don't really find it a very attractive place either. Let me know how the Red Lion goes Smiley smile

I'll most likely be doing my own make-up (no-one can do a cat eye flick the way I can lol) But my brother gets married in June and I'll let you know what the artist his other half uses is like, that's if its not too late, sparkly bride Smiley smile

Hi we're having a church wedding and then the recepton will be at Whitley Hall in Grenoside near Sheffield, we only viewed that one venue and fell in love. My make up artist is Amanda Humphreys she's based in Sheffield and is really lovely and very good, and also really reasonable ?

I'll join in this one please! New to Hitched and weddings, were looking at May/June 2012. We want old, impressive, countryside and great food. Weve narrowed it down to the following:

    Allwerton Catle-gorgeous but too expensive

    Holdsworth House-visiting on Friday

    Carlton Towers-my current fave.

Not sure where to start with the rest, it's a wedding minefield out there and so much to consider and costs etc...

Advice would be appreciated, when do you start seriously looking at buying/booking things.

When do suits get tried on and hired..bought?!

    Hi Sparkly,

I'm using Polly Jensen for my make up and hair - mad my trial with her and was very impressed and she's lovely to boot! And I found her prices really reasonable!

We are getting married at Wentworth Castle Gardens. Have been to a wedding at Cutlers Hall, but I wouldn't choose it for a summer do as there's no outside space.

I think there are loads of wonderful venues round here.

If people are still looking in the sheffield area I could dig out my long list! (It was REALLY long!)

    DM x
