Shoe advise

Suzie&Karl, 3 May, 2010 at 09:06 Posted on Planning 0 10

Right, 2 things really!

I looked around a few shops on saturday (not to try on just to look and ask a few questions)

All of them advised i had my shoes with me when i went to try on the dresses. So does this mean i am gonna have to find my shoes before i find my dress?

And also, i am really NOT a heel person. I was thinking of having 2 pairs of shoes, one with a SMALL heel for the service, photoes etc, and then a flat pair that i can change into once i get to the hotel as i know my feet will me murder after a couple of hours.

Is this too much having 2 pairs? Will it make alot of difference to the dress seeing as the first pair will only have a small heel?

You wont reallllly need your shoes until your first fitting, so you can see the length and any alterations needing made. So dont panic at the moment.

its quite common to have 2 pairs of shoes but even a small kitten heel will make a difference once you go into flats, your dress might trail in the floor by even an inch or so and you might spend your whole evening picking your skirts up...get the heeled pair first and decide once you have worn them with your dress at fitting.

    Thanks for the advise

I have quite wide feet, but my mum thinks once i have lost my weight they might feel more comfortable in shoes. Like i said it really will only be a small heel, so i will just but the heel as suggested and walk around in them for a good while and get used to them. And then if i feel ok in them, i can always have an emergency pair in my room just incase.

I did think it was strange that they said to tkae shoes with me, but i wont worry then. if i find a pair i do, if i dont i dont.

    Thanks again

Its all new for me, so i dont know what to expect and what will happen. Very excited but VERY nervous about the dress fittings and stuff.

Hi Suzie, a few wedding shoe sellers do wide fits that you might be more comfortable in. There are some suggestions here

Id love the idea of some massive sexy heels instead of something sensible but hardly anyone will see them under my dress! xx

    Oh thanks for that sidsidney

i think its better for me to have quite a thick heel instead of a thin one. I will just have to have a look around, and maybe buy a cheap pair to get used to over the next 6 months or so.

    xxxx

Both shops I went to lent me shoes - don't forget they'll try and sell you those too! Best to have an idea of what height of heel you want so that they can advise if the dress is too short/too long. And don't worry about dress shops. Just remember you are the customer, and you're potentially going to spend (a lot of) money with them. If you feel uncomfortable, or they're snooty or rude to you then you are within your rights to leave. You should enjoy it, it'll probably be more fun than you think (I was dreading it originally)

    Thanks for the advise Lizzieloumoose

I am looking forward to it, but its just at the moment i have alot of weight to loose, and by the time i do dress trying on i am hoping to be a size 16...but my worry is what if i'm not, i wont fit into dresses, i'd be so embarrased if i didnt fit into things.

I didn't need shoes, most dress shops have a few you can try on with the dresses. All you need to know is a rough heel height so flat or 5 inch! As you may need a different dress length.
