Shoe dilemma

xtine88xx, 5 January, 2012 at 15:55 Posted on Planning 0 50

Hi everyone

When I first started looking at dresses I was convinced I wanted a big princess gown full of sparkles. What I have actually ended up falling in love with is below:

I always thought I'd have either sparkly shoes (and from coming on here me and OH were going to make them - he agreed to this btw!) OR Navy blue shoes to match my colour scheme. My mum and MOH said that the sparkly ones won't go with my dress now as it's so lacy (there is bits of sparkle in the dress which you can't really see on the pic but all in the train etc) but do you think I could get away with plain Navy ones with it? They think I should go with plain ivory shoes but I really didn't want boring shoes which I won't wear again.

Ideal would be Navy blue sparkly dimante ones but I don't think I can have that do you?

I think sparkly shoes go with everything . . . . LOL amd if your colour scheme is blue, blue sparkly shoes would be fine its not like they would be on full show!

I think blue sparkly shoes would look amazing with that dress.

I am wanting green sparkly ones but not had much luck yet!

One of the girls on here has bought plain ivory shoes and glued gem stones on so there is no reason why you couldn't do the same with green/ blue gemstones!!

Ooooh yay I'm so glad you all think they will go!! I saw the shoes someone had sparkled up the first time I came on Hitched and fell in love with them so was adamant I was doing these too so was disheartened when everyone said they wouldn't match my dress. Plus, I want something I'll have half a chance of wearing again which plain ivory shoes probably would end up in a box forever, even if I had them dyed again. Blue sparkly ones can be my something blue Smiley smile

I normally wear heels for a night out but not too big and they are normally quite chunky ones lol but I love the pointy toe ones and am swithering between the 1.5 or 2.5 height

I'd personally need the smaller of the two you know you'd be comfy or buy the bigger and have a pair of flats for later thats what a friend of mine did had a brand new pair of converse to change into for dancing!!

Ok so I have decided, I actually have some bluey/purple sparkly-ish shoes which I am going to go to the shop with and try my dress on again and see what it looks like. Do you think they would mind me just going in and trying it on again? I have ordered it so its not cheeky is it??

I have just been googling and found these beauties...

I am in love! Smiley heart Smiley heart Smiley heart

You can have whatever you want! Wellies, purple Doc Martens, dreadful platforms if you must - its your day and you're the one who has to feel comfortable in them all day long, and live with your decision every time you look at your wedding photos.

I am a fan of sparkly shoes. The sparklier, the better! I agree with you about plain ivory ones - they aren't my idea of interesting, and I know I'd bury them in the back of the wardrobe, never to be seen again.

My only real options for shoes are flip flops or wedges. I wear heels at all and my wedding day of all days will not be the day I decide to try. The sandal is cute, but after the 5 inches your feet will thank you for the sneak support. Plus hey'll be so much fun to bling out! surprise.

Sparlky, Sparkly,Sparkly all the way ha. I did mine myself and bought 1,000 crystals in each of the following sizes 2mm,3mm,4mm,5mm,6mm. It worked out about £10 in total and I still have lots of gems left over. The glue was from hobbycraft but make sure you get a gem picker as some are very fiddly. I painted soles tiffany blue and have added I do stickers. In total cost next to nothing just time consuming xx

Aw I bought some ivory ones from dune as well (just in case) but had to bling them as well.........

If you find some shoes you like I could always do them for you. I'm not an expert or anything but would be more than happy to do them for free if you struggled with them but really wanted some crystals adding xx

Aww thankyou Soulmates. I would be scared people would think they were'nt good enough to buy. My OH said to do 1 pair then list them a 99p and see how they go on and what feedbacks like. That way I could just refund if buyer hated them and I know not to do anymore xx
