Shoe help for Bruce....

kimiu, 8 December, 2014 at 13:30 Posted on Planning 0 19

Bruce Neville Photography has posted this on another thread but it needs one of its own! Any hitchers able to help....?

Lovely shoes, by the way!

"Sorry for gate crashing but as a supplier we are not allowed to start a post so hope you don't mind but I wanted to ask if anyone knew what make of shoe this is, I cant ask the couple as they have gone on honey moon until after Christmas."

I think they're from jjshouse.co.uk, or at least they've got very very similar ones on there, I've also seen identical ones on etsy as I was looking for something similar to match my dress.

It's possible the ones I saw are designer copies so I don't know the original designer.

I found these from Maggie's boutique - the ones in the photo Bruce posted look like the lace is heavier though. Maybe they were custom made?

For what it's worth Bruce, as far as i'm aware suppliers are allowed to start threads as long as it's not soliciting for business or pushing your own services. I've asked a few questions about our wedding on here and posted over on Off Topic a few times and it's never been a problem. I know others have done the same too- have rules recently changed? ?

I always thought suppliers are not allowed to start threads mainly because your business signature is pushed in front of couples. A long time ago there was one supplier that did just that, start a new post every few days.

I've just had a browse back over the rules and it says we, as suppliers cannot:

    • Solicit business by creating a post solely for that purpose. We do allow registered users who have a listing in the hitched.co.uk suppliers section to respond to a post which has a specific request for information about a particular product or service. Creating such a post to solicit business is strictly forbidden.

I think your very lovely and genuine post asking for help for a bride would be fine. As long as things are not for the soul purpose of attracting business, such as advertising the fact you'll be at a wedding fair, or saying you have a special offer on, I *think* that's ok. I've never been picked up on posts genuinely looking for help or advice and i've been around on here or a while now. Albeit they are few and far between ?

I always thought you were Solicit business just by starting a post then keep replying to it so your business details are always in front of people and that's the only reason I never started this post for one of my clients.?

Oh no lets not go there?, I'm not a shoe person??

The rule has always been from way back but it looks like it has been updated now.

A note to wedding suppliers: within in the rules it states that you are not allowed to start your own posts. You are only allowed to respond to wedding planning couples from a professional point of view. Any queries on this, please let myself or the team know so that we can advise you. Any suppliers that start new posts, regardless of their subject, will be deleted. Thanks.

Looks like a similar pair in your signature.

I doubt they would have had a problem with your post at all. If anything, signatures are more distracting when someone posts in the same thread over and over.

You had a genuine question, glad it's been sorted for the bride.

The ones in my signature are the ones the bride saw and that is the pic I posted in another thread asking if anyone knew where to get them and kimiu kindly started this post?

Ah yes, I can see now. Sorry, they looked more platformed in the posted pic but I realise it's because the picture is stretched.

That's weird how its stretched like that, even when you click it to full screen.

Sometimes they do that for people on Hitched. I remember a Photographer on here always having the same problems. Rhys I think. Just glad it wasn't the work of the Baileys ?

I couldn't find the original post where I posted the photo but hopefully its not my posting of pictures that are getting distorted?
