Shoes! Hadn't thought about this.

PaisleyLove, 5 November, 2013 at 08:09 Posted on Planning 0 8

It's just hit me that I'm getting married in a field, and even though its a mid June wedding, there is no guarantee that we will have dry weather living here in Wales! Now I'm not wearing a full length dress I'm short and they make me look very frumpy. I'm opting for a tea length dress and always imagined some very pretty bespoke Lacey sparkly mid heel shoes. But in a wet field that sounds like... Well... A disaster.

Do any of you lovely ladies have any super ideas, or just a brand that make beautiful flats, I'm not a welly type of girl either.

another thing (sorry) how can I politely without sounding bossy advise guests on footwear. Obviously I want them to wear what they want but I don't want to hear any complaining of ruined shoes (via step mother, she's already picking at my choice of tipi's in a field)

Super appreciate any of your pearls of wisdom Smiley smile Xx

I was going to suggest wellies as a just in case option and still go with the shoes you had dreamed of...

with regards to your guests I'm sure once they see location detailed on your invite they'd have sense enough to wear suitable shoes... I don't think you should have to point this out for them.

I'd wear your shoes but have back up!! Maybe some funked up high top converse?!

You could put a dress code on the invite and then put PS bring back up shoes, we hope for sun but we could get rain?! It's not bossy it's more thoughtful for reminding them it's in a field!!

Will you have walkways for the main traffic areas?

In regard to other guests, I would just put a note on the invites (my friend's venue asks guests not to wear metal tipped shoes on their old oak floors, so she just said 'Ladies are asked not to wear metal heels, to pretect the venue's very old flooring'.

How about wedges, I always wear them to the races and outdoorsy event type things.

We are having the reception on h2b parents land. There's a drive going past the field to where guests will park, and they are going to take a section of fence down so guests don't have to walk down the length of the field but the will have to walk half way across it.

Because they will have to bring their own alcohol, were providing 3 bottles of wine per table, then it's up to them, I might just do a little checklist like.

    booze-

    wellies-

    cardigan-

If they definitely have to walk on the field for a bit I would mention the footwear thing in the invitations, without a doubt.

Maybe something like 'As our wedding will be taking place in a field, please bear this in mind when choosing your footwear - or maybe just bring a pair of wellies to get you from the driveway to the reception venue!'

Is there a possibility of you providing a welly store in the tipi so people can store their boots?

As for you, how about personalised Converse?

I've been to outdoor weddings where they've handed out these before: http://www.cleanheels.co.uk/

I got some heel protectors from eBay for about £2.50

Love the personalised convers idea though.
