Shoes to go with my dress?

MrsB-to-be, 25 January, 2013 at 21:07 Posted on Planning 0 50

I need some help. Need some shoes to go with my dress but really not sure what to go for. I can't have anything too high, or I'll be way taller than my Dad when we walk down the aisle! I guess maybe up to 3" would be ok.

Colour scheme is all neutral colours.

Here's the dress (that I now keep wobbling about!!)

Smiley smile thanks, it doesn't look quite so 'big' IRL!!

Had a look on BHS and I do quite like these:

    And also these on Debenhams:

Or are they a bit too plain?! I could maybe go more glitzy but the overall theme is quite traditional

I am also struggling with this! Not sure weather to have a big of Glitz under the dress, or stick to something more plain as the theme is sort of rustic/vintage. I found these in Kurt Geiger, which was a big mistake because now I can't seem to find anything else!!

I think the ruffle ones you showed first are lovely!

Is that the actual colour of dress you are having? It looks almost white in the pictures which may be quite tricky to match to a cream or ivory shoe.

I think sparkles would work really well with the detail on the front. If it is almost white, I think I would go for silver shoes with some diamante detail.

I like the first strappy ones you flashed! Personally I'd go for some bold contrast colour but if you want neutral, I'd go same white as the dress. If you go for ivory/another white it might look like an accidental styling shade mismatch, whereas if you go another colour, you want it to be notable.

I detest ivory wedding shoes. I am yet to see a pair I like. I would go for a contrast colour, whats the rest of your theme?

Rest of my theme is all creams/ pastels and the overall look is quite vintage.

The colour if the dress is almost white, so maybe I should so for some glitz!!

I have 2 pairs of these! The black and skull ones and the heart ones in red. MrMini bought them for me as a wedding present imagining I would wear them. He diddnt anticipate that I would have a tea length dress mind you so sadly they stayed in the box.

The problem is, is that I have no other colours in my scheme, so having random contrast shoes might look a bit odd...

    I did quite like these...

    That's where you're wrong!!

BM's are wearing (cream belt and flower, not black):

My OH is in the army so will be wearing navy blue uniform but all other blokes are wearing dark grey suits with champagne cravats (same colour as BMs dresses).

    Flowers are all pastels too.

The only thing i could mayyyybe do, is if I wanted contrast shoes, get navy blue and customise them to complement OHs uniform?

I totally agree with Navy, maybe with some sparkle too.

If you think that is too much, could you link to the bridesmaids dresses with gold? I don't know if that would work at all against a white dress. Or a pale blue as a nod to your OH but not quite as bold.

Mini where were the heels with the red soles from? (Please don't tell me they're Louboutins... my bank account will cry!!)

I looked at pale gold... but as my dress has some silvery detail on it, I think it might clash. I'm loving the navy idea now though Smiley laugh

Personally I wouldn't. They're not genuine but that's obvious. I'd just be thinking that £80 is still a lot of money for shoes that don't arrive or are really badly made!

Have you thought about buying glittery shoes and painting the soles? I'm sure Sparklybride painted the soles of her shoes duck egg blue.
