Short Hair - Styling Product Advice Needed!

Boolean, 16 June, 2008 at 14:57 Posted on Planning 0 6

I've just had all my hair chopped off to a really short crop and need some advice as I've never had hair this short before. I'm after a nice styling product with a bit of hold but that doesn't make it too stiff or weighed down.

I've used some of my other half's Dax Short and Neat but I thought it made my hair look a bit oily. Then I bought some Toni & Guy Texture Paste but I hate it - it's really hard and I don't like the smell.

Any (reasonably priced) suggestions appreciated!!

I had short hair for 10 years... and I don't think I ever found a styling product I was truely happy with!

Bed Head do some good stuff though. I like Bed Head wax sticks, but it's very very easy to put too much on. Don't limit yourself to girls stuff either... try mens hair gunk too.

Best tip I can give is; alway apply product to the back of your hair first and the least amount to the front. Your fringe and the hair that frames your face gets greasier as you probably touch it throughout the day and your hands have oil on them. Getting too much product on the front just makes hair lank and greasy looking.

If you're using alot of waxy type hair gunk, use a really good shampoo like Dax wax vegetable shampoo from time to time to strip away any build up.

I can't recommend this enough! Ive tried everything as had short hair for about 8 years now... tried 'Fudge', 'TIGI', Tony & Guy etc etc This is by far the best.... 'Redken - Rough paste No.12' It costs abotu 10-12.00 a bottle but you only need to use a tiny bit and it lasts a long while. Its great stuff! Doesn't leave your hair greasy or waxy looking and gives great texture. Ive got other people hooked on it too!

I buy it from my hairdresser's but its cheaper online.

A second vote for Redken. Laura recommended it to me as I've used Fudge for years but it stopped working that well for me and I've found Redken brilliant, I've got short spikey hair and the wax helps it stay put all day.
