Short haired bride??

NorthernBelle_79, 15 April, 2013 at 12:45 Posted on Planning 0 9

So......when my OH proposed in December I had short hair (slightly longer than a pixie cut). I loved it, as did my OH. I have been begrudgingly growing my hair since then for our wedding in December this year. I'll probably only get it to a bob length (I hate bobs) but it means I'd be able to do something with it on the day. It's an absolute mess at the moment as all the layers are growing out, and it's getting me down as I feel like a mess Smiley sad( My OH keeps telling me to just go and get it cut as we both prefer it. However, I've bought the most beautiful cathedral length veil and veil clip and I'm worried it won't look right with short hair (I've attached a pic). I'd probably keep the top layers a little longer so there's something for it to attach to......but what do you think?!?!?!

That veil clip is beautiful! I think you could definitely make it work on shorter hair and if you both prefer it, you'll only be unhappy if you let it grow any longer. :-)

I too have short hair (proper pixie cut), and have had a hard time choosing what to wear in my hair. Have opted for a simple head band with some fabric flowers on it to match teh detail on my dress.

I can't get your photos to open (slow work internet!) but I'm sure you will make the veil work with shorter hair. I'm certain that you would feel happier on the day with shorter hair if thats the way you (and your OH) prefer to wear it.

That clip is lovely - take it with you to the hairdresser, and go get your hair cut! Smiley smile If you and your OH prefer you having short hair, surely that's the style you should have for your wedding day - so you look like YOU.

I'm always mystified when brides grow their hair to have an updo just for the wedding, a hairstyle they never usually wear, and then cut all their hair off as soon as they're back from honeymoon.

I have a graduated bob, barely past jaw length and am refusing to grow my hair for one day. Everyone seems to assume that I should so I can have an up do but why would I want to look like someone else on the most important day of my life? My hair dresser is full of " we could curl it, or use extensions" and all sorts of ideas that will make me look different but I intend to have it washed and blow dried as normal and pop a little clip in the side to dress it up. Book and appointment and get your hair cut to how YOU like it xx
