Should I be worried? Haven't had 'the call' yet...

Karen84, 3 March, 2016 at 09:25 Posted on Planning 0 9

...to say that my dress is in. I know I still have the best part of 5 months and won't be doing alterations or anything for a while yet, but it's been 11 months since I ordered my dress and I'm starting to flap a bit. When I ordered it (it's a Sincerity dress) at the beginning of April, I was told it would be between 6-9 months which took us up to the end of the year. When I called in December, they said they don't count the month I ordered it(!) and it would be the end of January. End of January comes and I call again and I'm promised sometime in February. Then I called a couple of weeks ago and I was told it was 'in transit' and it should be with them either last week or this week.

Is this normal? I'm really trying not to worry too much, but if something has gone wrong, I'm running out of time to sort it out.

I'd be stressing too! Keep on at them. I know you feel like a pain, but explain that you're getting worried. Give them until the end of the day tomorrow, and then chase for a delivery update. If it's been delayed, they should be able to tell you why.

I don't know how the dresses are transported, but if it is with a courier ask for the tracking information! They'll probably give it to you so you can see what's going on rather than calling them about it Smiley smile

    Fingers crossed it comes soon

    xx

I agree, best to keep on at them! My dress was in by early January, and my wedding isn't until August, but then you need to time to fit in dress fitting etc so definitely keep chasing!

Hope it gets to you soon! x

I really wouldn't worry; my dress didn't come in until a month before my wedding and I had my last fitting the day before the wedding (the shop was also an hour and a half away from me).

I would say hold off, it is their busiest time at the moment I would imagine. If you are really stressed about it then do contact them but try not to panic - after all, seamstresses can turn things around in a matter of days!

Go and soak in a bath with a lovely glass of wine and relax and de stress Smiley smile

Don't worry. When I ordered mine back in 2014 I was told 9 months, the 9 months turned into over a year and after a lot of chasing all they needed for my dress to come in was for me to pay the final balance. I just wish they were up front about that and I would not have bothered chasing them and looking like a complete idiot!

My alterations are booked for May so you still have plenty of time, even if it comes in the week before itll be good. I would ask them for an update if you haven't heard any more by the beginning of next month.
