Should I have chosen my menu by now?!

We get married 30th July and had our taster session last night. The venue were keen to do it earlier so they can be prepared but yesterday was the first date we could make. I guess everywhere is different but it didn't seem too early to me.

Thanks, our venue is very popular with weddings on most weekends so I am thinking that maybe with so many brides to sort they leave it till as late as possible! Prob just me being a stress head haha!

I had a post about this the other day as I didn't know when to choose. Our venue offered us a couple of unsuitable dates in April/May and then the next one was mid September - we get married at end of October.

I'd probably just drop them a quick email if I were you as I'm a bit of a stress head & would want to check ?

We havn't fully decided our menu yet for a june 18th wedding, My venue seems way to relaxed over it, it's only a set meal for everyone but Im wanting to get everything sorted now, only 10 weeks out.

Don't worry about it..from the venue perspective there is no rush.

I used to be a wedding co-ordinator at a venue, and we would have a 'final details' appointment with couples around 4 weeks prior to their wedding day.

Before that point, all the information on the wedding (number of guests, dietary requirements, timings etc) was holed away in my file - it was only actually shared with the operations team (chef, bars, housekeeping etc) 10 days prior to the wedding day!

Your venue co-ordinator will chase you if there is anything urgent, if she's anything like I was she will feel like her neck is on the line with each wedding and will probably be more of a bridezilla than you!! ?

I chose mine ages ago - about the 12 month mark, but then we didn't need a taster etc as our food is buffet only.

I think, if you already know the options, there is no reason to not start considering it now - when they say you'll discuss it at the 8 weeks before meeting - will they expect a decision there and then? If so, you'll need to have decided before hand IYSWIM?

We still havnt chose ours! My mum is doing our heads in about it!

Weve got 12 weeks to go & they want it no later than 10 weeks before hand.

So if you can get it sorted now, great its another thing done but I'd say you have a few weeks to think yet.

We chose ours 2 weeks ago - and we get married in 36 days (OMG - that's scared me now!!!!!!!)!!

i think it just depends on your venue! we just went up to discuss the plans for the day and we gave them our choices then! i'm sure they will let you know when they need you to decide - but we didn't have a taster or anything! to put your mind at ease, just give them a call and ask when they need to know by - then you can relax about it or get choosing!

We are having a set menu - there won't be any choices for the guests on the day, just what we have decided on. We have already got our menu in mind, we just wanted to ask a few questions about it whenever we have this meeting!

Thanks for all your replies; I think I was just stressing over nothing - I spoke to my Mum about it before and it's not like my venue are going to let me get as far as the wedding day without me choosing the menu!! I just seem to have completely gone into stress mode at the thought of less than 4 months to go....I'm sure I will get over it soon haha?
