Should I put the rubbish out?HRML

monalisa, 3 February, 2009 at 15:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

Bored post lunch question of the day -

Will the binmen come in the morning and should I put the bins out?

We've still got about 5 inches of snow on the ground and had no post for 2 days.

How much of a pain is it to store your rubbish until the next collection? If its not, then store and put it all out next week.

Our collection is tomorrow and I'll put our rubbish out but we don't have that much snow.

No, I checked our council website (actually to see if the schools were open) to find out there will be no collections made again till next week! And there is an allowance as to what extra you can put out... This was Epsom & Ewell.

Excellent idea Steph - I just checked our council website and collections are suspended until further notice. Nice stinky outhouse for the week then.

Ours never came today but I never expected them to either which is why I didn't even bother to put my bins out. Mind you it takes me three weeks to fill our bin as we recycle most of our rubbish.

Ours didn't come yesterday and I checked on the council website and they're not going to come - we have to wait two weeks until the normal waste collection! For one of the first times ever, my landfill bin is full so I've not even got the extra space like I normally would.

I'm hoping ours doesn't come this week. There's barely room for the lorry to clear the parked cars as it is. I don't fancy them trying it in icy weather, on a hill. Actually, I haven't left the house since it snowed. I am half afraid to look to see if my car is still in one piece. While most people on my road would admit to an accident, I think, there are a few knobs living further up who probably wouldn't if they thought they could get away with it.

Our bins were collected at 5.45 this morning admist all the snow and ice. The noise of the truck woke me up but to begin with i thought someone must have slid into the side of our house as i never expected the binmen to be out collecting today! I looked out of the window to check and there was only one bloke with his dustcart sliding around emptying our bins, i'm sure there are normally 3 blokes but it seemed we only have one mad enough to venture out in the weather!

I hope he got back to the depot safely.
