Should I tell my Mum and Dad...(aisle music related!)

loobylou1979, 27 January, 2011 at 13:47 Posted on Planning 0 21

...before the wedding that I have decided to walk down the aisle to the same music as they did when they got married? I love the song they had, and symbolises a happy marriage.

I'm not sure that it would come as too much as a shock to them if they find out as it comes on in the ceremony?

Just pondering really...WWYD?

Ooo a mixed response! Was edging towards telling them as my thoughts are the same as Purple Pixie's but would love to keep it a surprise too.....ooooh I don't know!

It's Chopin's Fantasia Impromptu (sorry, at work so can't post link), but with the first minute edited out so it starts after the fast part!

As a Mum, I would be over the moon! Don't worry about her being a blubbering wreck - cos she will be anyway! All Mums cry at weddings don't they!

I think it's a lovely idea- i'd keep it a complete surprise if it was me. As someone said earlier, your mu will prob be a blubbering wreck anyway!!

I'd love to do this, but my mum walked down the aisle to spandau ballet- not very elegant.

Surprise, definitely. I'm trying to keep as many little details as secrets from my mum, but she's getting all huffy when I told her I wanted some surprises ? but thats another story!

I think your mum will be very touched and it will be a lovely surprise x

I think that's a lovely idea. I would have liked to have incorporated music from my parent's wedding, but neither of them could remember what music and hymns they had! I tried to incorporate a couple of sentimental touches ie my OH and I used the kneelers that my Mum had made over 35 years ago and are still in the church thinking she'd be really pleased and touched but it was totally lost on her! She's not the sentimental sort though. Now my Dad on the other hand.....!

? I think I'm just as worried for my dad being a blubbering wreck!

Thinking about it a surprise could be a nice 'revenge'...speaking to my mum last night about having a father daughter dance and she went odd on me and said she would give me a call back....about an hour later my dad calls back saying 'look Lou, I don't want you to ask any questions, but the dance is sorted!'

What on earth are they up to?!!!

Fantasy Impromptu is a gorgeous piece of piano music. I can remember performing it for the first time on a grand piano for my GCSE's.

Are you having it played live???? You have inspired me to suggest it to some of the brides who have booked us for their ceremony this year....in fact, I am going to go and find the music and play it through right now!!!! (One very excited pianist over her!)

    James

P.s. I think that you should have it as a surprise - It will be really special.

I am personally based in Essex and I have already been booked to play for a wedding in Chelmsford.

One of our pianists lives in Bromsgrove and works regularly in Warwickshire. I first met him when I was studying at Uni and I have heard him play Fantasy Impromptu in one of his recitals (we both studied music). He is truly an exceptional pianist.

I could see if he is available if you like??

In the meantime, you could check out some piano videos of him playing that we have just uploaded to YouTube. They are piano covers of more modern pieces, but he is a specialist in classical and romantic piano music.

If you would like to send me an email then please do - *****@*******.**.**

    Speak soon!!!

    James
