Should i wear a necklace? Advice please!

snail_87, 27 March, 2011 at 21:59 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi everyone, i'm in a bit of a pickle. I don't know whether to wear a necklace because my dress only has a small amount of detail around the empire line so wanted some sparkle around my neck- but I am having my hair in loose curls so don't want it to be too much. I was thinking a fine silver coloured chain with a small pendant of some sort. What do you guys think?

This is my dress

This isn't me but it's what my hair will be like, except brunette and without the tiara

Thanks in advance everyone!

Generally my "rule" is that as long as the hair accessory isn't massive then always wear a necklace unless its a one shoulder dress or halterneck. So in your case I'd say yes wear a necklace! It is down to personal taste though so you'll know if you'd feel uncomfortable wearing a necklace if you don't usually for example.

There's some crystal pendants on dainty chains on my website here http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/pendants_bridal.html# but another option is just a simple one-strand crystal illusion necklace like "Essence" below http://www.louloubelle.co.uk/necklaces_bridal.html#necklaces_essence as a pendant may sit too low depending on the neckline when its on.

If I can help at all please drop me an email on ****@***********.**.**

You will look beautiful regardless! My preference is for no necklace...but I think whatever you would be most comfortable with!

lisaloulou- thank you very much for your suggestions, i hadn't thought that a pendant might sit too low so will look into some like you suggested!

canterburybride- i don't have any pictures of me in it, sorry- I need someone to help me get it on because it is lace up at the back, and obviously can't have my OH help so i don't get to put it on very often!! I have fairly wide shoulders and big bust- i'm about a size 14 so not huge but not small either. My hair is quite long and goes half way down my back.

smiles12- i don't tend to wear necklaces much so originally i wasn't going to wear one- but am now thinking a fairly dainty one will give some added sparkle! Thank you though!

I defo think a necklace would be fine. As already mentioned, it is hard to tell whether a traditional necklace or a pendant would look better as it depends on how high up the neckline comes up. I think a strand or pearls with some crystals would look great, esp if you have brown hair as the cream and sparkle will stand out more.

Here are some examples I think would look great:-

Or if you want to go for more sparkle, what about the first one but without the tear drop pendant and maybe a large pearl hanging down:-

I am having my hair down and I have a very small amount of detailing around the neckline (sweetheart) of my dress. I will be having a fine silver chain with a Swarovski crystal charm/pendant on it that I will put on my charm bracelet as a keepsake after the wedding. It'll only be small and probably clear to match the crystals on my dress. I think something small and understated would be lovely.

Maybe something delicate like my pearl station necklace on this page? https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/pearl_bridal_necklaces.htm
