Should we get some entertainment orther than a DJ?

MrsF2Bee, 31 August, 2014 at 17:40 Posted on Planning 0 7

Part of me wants some entertainment to keep guests occupied. Originally a guitarist or something now a charaturist or magician, OH isn't bothered and thinks its an unnessesary expense. "/

Throw me your thoughts please.

The only 'entertainment' we had other than a dj was a photo-booth type thing.

Other than that we let guests entertain themselves, chat, drink, be merry etc! I don't feel like our wedding was lacking anything in terms of entertainment either (although guests might say differently!).

I think if you wanted something else a photo both would be fun, but I don't think you need to do anything more than a DJ.

We are only having a DJ in the evening. I think guests socialise & entertain themselves

We went to a wedding on Friday and the only time I felt I could have been entertained was when photos were being taken but that's mainly because I wasn't really needed for many of them and didn't know an awful lot of people there to chat to. For the evening the DJ was quite enough!

Having said that we are having a photo booth and putting some games like bagatuelle and table skittles in the bar area (if we're allowed)

We're having a magician for after the ceremony and while the meal is being served. I went to my friends wedding a couple of weeks ago and there was a bit of hanging about after arriving at the reception venue and the meal - that's the only time we felt there could have been something. But we didn't really know any other guests so only had each other to talk too. Ours is all in one place so there's not any travel time and we ant to get photos without worrying. It worked really well for OHs cousin last year - and gives the guests something to talk about.

We were talking about having a band or a singer, we've changed our minds now and just going to have a DJ,it also saves us money too lol

We had DJs and a band; the band was ace as it was H's band and was made up of guests so it was great fun. And I sang and FOG did a stint on the euphonium as well!
I think it worked for us as we were a bit worried about the dance floor being in a separate room to the bar, so it was a good way to get people in and dancing Smiley smile
