Shout out to any of you artistic and creative ladies

kharding2014, 23 February, 2014 at 12:36 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi All,

I've seen some chair decorations that I really like and wanted to have a go at recreating them. The only problem is that I don't have a creative bone in my body so don't know where to start and was hoping that the more creative of you out there might be able to give me some advice on where to start?

I don't have a huge amount of budget left and the room isn't available for set up until 12pm and e get married at 2pm. I was hoping to make something in advance and then just go and slip it over the chairs.

Right I'll stop rambling and flash the pics

Ooh these are pretty. Do you have a flash of the chairs in your venue?

I wish my venue had these chairs. I think they're gorgeous and don't need covers. They give you more options for decorating and they shouldn't be too difficult to make.

I think they're beautiful but I think that I'd be too scared to sit on the last chair in case I ruined the flowers! Pic 2 looks very simple though and could be achieved pretty cheaply with some ribbon and strings of glass beads. (Ebay sell these cheaply in large quantities)

Which design do you want to make? Don't forget that guests will want to put their suit jackets & bags over the chair, so you'll need a cloak room unless you want the flowers & decorations squashed.

I agree that picture two looks like the easiest to achieve but I imagine it would still be quite time consuming to get them put on all the chairs!

I love them, the ribbon one would be the easiest to achieve, depending on how many chairs and how much budget?

You can use 2 different width ribbons and combine them with any type of decoration to give the third strand, I'm thinking that any plastic embellishments would be quite expensive depending upon the amount of chairs.

    I'm going to make these whilst on sick leave;

If you do the second one (which I pinned on Pinterest myself but our venue has the type of chairs that need covers!) I would say you could cut the ribbon and beads to the required length; sew them all together at either end leaving a length of one ribbon free at both ends and then just tie them on; or if the chairs have the sticky up bits on either side like the picture you could actually sew the loose end into a loop and then you wouldn't even need to tie them on the day; just loop them over.

If you wanted to do flowers as well I think you'd have to essentially make a small bouquet then tie it somehow to the chair; think attaching them to the chairs would be the trickiest bit

    Hi

I like the idea of this :

I was going to use white wicker hearts and get ribbon off ebay with the colour theme of my wedding.
However due to a change of venue I will no longer be using this idea.

Oh wow thanks all. I am having limewash Chiavari chairs.

I have no idea which one I prefer. I just wanted something pretty to go on the back of the chairs but after all of your comments/ advice I think I'll have a go at making the 2nd one.

My venue doesn't have these chairs either and it took me ages to decide whether or not I should just hire them. I'm hoping that I've made the right decision.

Thanks Miss Toffee. The second idea I think is a winner. The flowers look really complicated. Best try and find some ribbon in the right colours.
