Show me your dresses!

bubbly, 9 March, 2013 at 11:06 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 15

Hi, I'm bubbly and I'm getting married in Ibiza next May.

Im having dilemmas over my dress though. I know that I don't want a full on wedding dress, but I don't really know what I do want.

If anyone isn't having a full on wedding dress, what are you having? I need inspiration.

Thanks in advance Smiley smile

This is the best picture I've got on this computer (it's from our home reception) but the link to my report is in my signature for better pics from the actual wedding. I was adamant that I wanted a chiffon, grecian, floaty dress, but ended up getting this one. I got married in Australia in August, so it wasn't TOO hot.

    Hi bubbly, me too!!

I'm getting married in Greece and I don't want a full length or heavy wedding dress at all.

I am now looking at bridesmaid dresses and prom dresses as I want tea length. I looked at off the peg in Monsoon and BHS too but there wasn't much choice so I am going into London this week to look at the bigger departmental stores.

I am also looking in Greece when we go in June as my friend who lives out there says they have some lovely bridal and shoe shops so hopefully I can find something and keep it at her house for September when we return for our wedding.

Wedding shops scare me to death!!!

    Hi!

I'm getting married in Las Vegas next year and have opted for a non full-on dress, its actually supposed to be a bridesmaid dress but it is just the thing I was looking for! I hadn't seen anything in proper bridal stores that I liked, so many of the dresses are so over the top! Here it is:

I'm getting married in Barbados in November and having a very light silk off the peg from Monsoon - £59! I found that everything in bridal shops was too tight or too heavy (didn't want anything too closely fitted or merainge like - just not 'me') Completing the look with flip flops from Dune, hair down and a hawaiian orchid in hot pink in my hair (Ebay £4 for four!).

Hi! I'm getting married in Ibiza too! August next year Smiley smile

I'm going for a full on dress... I've looked at photos from our venues and so many brides have much bigger dresses than what I was looking at. Not getting married until 6pm so it should be ever so slightly cooler.

    Im having maggie sottero Kylie

I went dress shopping and insisted I was having a destination dress - how wrong I was...

I have ended up with a full length, complete with train and hoop!

Personally I just didn't feel bridey enough when I put on the destination ones - although I have to say some pics on here the brides have looked fab in them!

Perhaps deep down I always wanted a big one...

Goodness knows how i am going to get it out there!

    Hi bubbly

I'm getting married in zante greece next May and went to try on dresses last week. Had a idea of mermaids/trumpet type style. Tried on loads of these and the

Shop owner was like why don't you try this princess style (totally not my style) but thought I'll try it anyway and omg

I fell in love so much so that I'm going to get measured for it and pay my deposit this week. Eech. I thought it would be too big for

A wedding abroad but my dress maker was like don't think about going abroad just think what you want and what suits you. Just try on loads of styles and you will know

When you have picked right. Hope that helps lol

??Did you narrow your choices for your destination dress? If you plan on getting married by beach side, then a dress with train may be not proper, really hard for walking on the beach.

If it will be held inside, then it would be fine.

In fact, some do choose the one as you described, any way, most important,is your feeling, and interest.

    Hi

Hope you will get your dreamed dress.

If the dress will be heavy or not, that partly is influenced by the fabric of the dress,e.g.(Satin--heavy/Chiffon-light weight).hha,so you can have a look for these lighter material dresses,or taffeta.

Provided your wanna tea length bridesmaids dress, then for bridal dress,a little longer would be fine.

Yes,off-the-peg dress may be much more inexpensive, but generally our choices will be more limited,as the shop exactly will not stock too many dresses at hand& the measurements may can not fit your exact size, then custom-made seems better.

Yeah, big departmental stores are good choices, providing more styles for you, these may be a little pricey.

Maybe your friend who lived in Greece would give you helpful service, but please do make sure you will leave enough time for them making the dress,as it is more proper for you to try on the dress about one week before your wedding, then if there is any area that is not proper, you can make some alterations correctly.

    Good luck!
