Show me your invites please!

Tina Teaspoon, 21 September, 2010 at 19:01 Posted on Planning 0 37

...especially if they are DIY ones, but really I would love to see all invites, whoever made them!

We will be making our own invites but could really do with a bit of inspiration. I would love to see what it's possible to achieve, and get some tips from you lovely ladies.

I made pocketfolds from PDA Card and Craft. They were very easy to make. I wanted a fairly simple looking invite, but you can easily buy ribbons, buckles etc, or get more patterned cards for the inserts etc. Sid x

Sorry, I started this and then wandered off and never got the chance to reply. Thanks for sharing these, they are all gorgeous, it gives me hope that I might be able to achieve something halfway decent!

LauraSJ, the DVDs are such a good idea, I've never seen that done before.

Sidsidney - i think ours will probably be pocketfolds too so thanks for showing me yours so I can get a better idea of how it will all work.

Can anyone else flash their invites please?

This is the cover of ours..it's a cheque book style one. Inside I have three pages each a little wider than the one before it with the invite, guest details and order of the day. Haven't got a picture of the inside but was simple but effective to make.

Loobylou this is what I wanted to do! I saw it in a magazine and thought it was brilliant ?

LauraSJ what have you put on your dvd invites? Is it a video montage of you and H2B?

Can I be cheeky and ask which programme you used to design your invites??

I have chosen my pocket folds and have a photo of me and H2B for the monogram on the front. Just not sure where to start with the rest.

Hunter's green (below) is a dark green which is a close match to emerald.

I'm really struggling though to figure out from the line drawings what they look like when folded up - and I think they're too small anyway because I need A5 not A6 folders. I could spend £20 on the sample pack but I'm really not sure they do what I want - despite ringing them they weren't able to offer a lot of assistance.

If the american site is cards and pockets I cannot fault them at all - their sample pack is really good and the quality of the folds is excellent!

I really like this... How did you fix it together? Is it just ribbon tied through the holes??

    What size is it?

Love the text and crystal on the front too!

I was looking at this: http://www.shoplet.com/Oxford-Twin-Pocket-Portfolio/ESS53434/spdv but they're too big - I need A5 each side, not "11x8" which is roughly A4.

I guess we'll stick with our original plan which is not to bother with outer folders!

Ah you are all so talented! Lots of ideas here, thank you.

Elizabeth I love yours - but you are scaring me as you are so much more organised than me! You know that you are one of the people I am particularly keeping an eye on because our weddings are close together, stop being so good at planning! ?

Hey,I have not got mine yet but I am going to go for blank Charity cards (maybe from Oxfam) and then hand write the message on it, or stick it-Will see! If I need to add some decoration to the card I will but I am hopeful I will be able to get nice cards-and do my little bit for charity at the same time!

Thanks Laura, but I can take hardly any of the compliments. I told him what I wanted and he took that, and his knowledge of our personalities and came up with those little beauties!

I am so jealous of your talent, I wish I could be as creative as you. I am creative in my head but it never quite comes out right, lol.

Kristaltipps yours are fab - but be careful, I can still make out all your details in the pic even though they are slightly blurred!

I don't think it was the hitchers she was worried about (in fact I'd love some of you at my wedding!) but there have been horror stories over the last year or so where people's weddings have been cancelled by others with a grudge! As these posts are viewable on google by non-members of hitched, it is wise to be safe with the amount of detail you share x

eta - these were my mock ups which is why theyre odd colours and wonky lol!!!

We ended up going for the "book" style; outer cover in cream card, then 2 A4 white paper in the middle, folded and stapled (this contains travel information, local accommodation etc) with the reply slip and envelope "loose" inside - the actual invitation is printed on the inside front cover.

In that way, everything "stays together" in one convenient package, and the loose bits that people send back don't end up making everything all fall apart when they're taken out.

The outside back cover of the "invitation pack" contains the mailmerge address information from our tracking database, which is placed so it fits neatly in a C5 window envelope - but thankfully with a bell showing in the window so people don't think it's a gas bill!

Hope that explains it - can't really find a way to take a photo that does the whole thing justice!

Here are ours. My mil2b designed and made them. Our theme is a tea party and so they set the feel brilliantly. As i have said in a previous post i am sending them in a box wrapped in brown paper and string with the invite, home made shortbread biscuits, jam and a teatowel inside. They are a book like AJ was trying to describe.

I designed them in my head! lol! Then my sis brought them to life! Our friend took the picture of us and turned it into a silhouette and the words are what my H2B wrote in my first valentines card!

Everybodies are beautiful and so creative ?
