Silly girl question about a car...

If you part ex a car for a cheaper model... would the garage give you the difference in cash?

It really depends on the garage and cars. If you are getting rid of a higher value car you would be much better of selling privately as the garage will give you a significantly reduced price for it.

Yes they should. OH part ex'd an Audi A6 for a Golf which he also did on finance so he walked away with a brand new car & a cheque for £15k (which was being used to pay for the finance - was a lease due to the miles he was doing so it actually made sense this way)

Quite often when you part ex a car it isn't the garage that is buying it, they will contact other garages to give a part ex price given age and condition of the car and the highest bid wins.

I don't think I would part ex it, I was quoted £2,800 when I could sell privately for about £4-5k!

Just wondered how it would work!

Well Mr Bea says that his garage would do it, but then he is nice like that. He thinks you should sell privately if you can.

Thanks Mr Bea! I've seen a car I quite like the look of and it will save me a fortune in the long run!
