Silly question!!!

sineadw, 20 May, 2010 at 21:10 Posted on Planning 0 8

I went shoppin the other day and nipped into a bridal shop! ive not been into any yet because ive been trying to lose weight, well when i started talking to them they totally panicked me saying they normally need 6 months and i was leaving it late!! So i panicked and made an appointment but my mum is awat, my chief bridesmade cant make it and anybody else would be pointless to take because i know they would just nodd and agree. To be honest for first time im happy to go by myself to get a rough idea what i want, i hate trying on infront of people! So my embarrassin question is...,,will someone come into the changing room to help me into the dresses as im a very embarrased kinda person especially with not a lot of clothes on! Heehee sorry i took so long to get to the point!!

Yea somebody comes in to help you on with the dress but remeber its their job and will have seen ALL sorts of shapes and sizes, so although you'll feel abit anxious to begin with they'll soon put you at ease!

    have fun! x

Hi Sinead, I would definately get your dress ordered NOW!! I ordered my dress at the beginning of March and they said it would be 12 weeks. It varies with the shops I went to - some left me to try in on myself, some helped me through the curtain and some came in and helped me. They can be quite awkward to get in to it on your own. Hope you get something sorted.... and quick!!

    Hi,

We got engaged in Feb and then booked our wedding for September this year, giving us just over 6months to arrange our wedding. I went to the wedding fair in Birmingham and they panicked me by saying they need 6 months to make the dresses as they get them made abroad. However come back home to MK and looked around a shop which sold one off dresses of the hanger so bought my dress there and then. If you find a shop that sells dresses off the hanger then you do not need 6 months, so try not to panic. You really need to take someone with you who you trust for their opinion more than anything so I would wait until someone can go with you ?

Hm i think they do need a wee while to get dresses in. So if they tell you that theres certain dresses you'll definately not get...dont be too surprised! Cos my friend ordered her dress 7 months before her wedding and they came in a months before the wedding.

They will have someone putting you in the dresses you try on. (You would never be able to get into them otherwise!!)

Don't worry like others said they will have seen it all before! Most shops I went into they helped you, only one where the girl stayed outside the curtain until I needed the dress to be done up.

I would get on with looking now though - I ordered with 5 months to go - they said anything less than 4 months and they could do it but I would pay more for a 'rush' job. I am still losing weight too - I ordered in a size which was snug on me & they can take it in further too when they do the fittings etc.

I also went alone as I tended to go on weekday lunchtimes when my BMs were at work. I just found it easier that way.

    Good luck!
