To get to the point...in a civil ceremony do you get to say 'I Do'?
I just want to clarify what I think(!) Am I right in thinking that in a church ceremony the vicar asks the question 'Do you ....... take ........ to be your lawfully wedded husband/wife?' (Or I see now the wording is sometimes 'Will you') So that the bride and groom each reply 'I Do' or 'I Will'
I really want to say 'I Do'...may be silly but that's what everyone says when it comes to weddings, saying the I Dos etc I am wanting to have I Do stickers on my shoes etc but will seem silly if we don't actually say it at our wedding!
Anyway in our civil ceremony information pack to fill in regarding vows, music, readings etc It says you can choose between 3 types of contracting words all of which are a statement to the effect of 'I ........ take you ...... to be my lawfully wedded husband/wife'
Will I be able to change it to a question, as it's the contracting wording I'm thinking maybe not ☹️
