Silly question, but wedding nerves have rendered me incapable of making any decisions!

moomin8804, 7 July, 2009 at 16:31 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi all!

Really thicky question here!

I need to have my hair cut, coloured and highlighted before the wedding which is on a Saturday (July 25th). My question is when would you book the appointment for? I'm thinking maybe the Tuesday or Wednesday before the wedding as i want my hair to still look fresh if you know what i mean!

TIA, and sorry agin for probably the silliest question this year so far on Hitched! ?

Not a silly question. I think Tuesday or Wednesday sounds fine.

I had mine done the Saturday before, but I knew that I wouldn't be able to get it done during the week so that was the latest I could have it done.

I remember reading in a couple of places to have it done 2 weeks before so I just had mine done this past weekend.

I have really curly hair and don't colour it so I have spent the entire year making scientific calculations as to how long before I can get my hair cut so that it is still long (curly hair grows slowly, it goes round and then down IYSWIM) but not frizzy. sooooooo

I had mine cut at the beginning of may. I only get my hair cut 2/3 times a year and it is healthiest + longest about 3 months after being cut. By 4 months it needs cutting again.

So that was a long winded way of saying am sure that's fine.

Plus I AM SOOOOOOOOOO NERVOUS too. How is it only 2 weeks on saturday. Will be thinking of you on the day moomin and sending you thoughts from Cardiff lol

L_L: 2 weeks? I'll have roots again by then!

I'll probably get it done in the week leading up to the wedding but get it washed at the hairdressers again the day before. Purely because I've been recommended before not to wash my hair on the day as it makes it harder to style and my hairdresser makes my hair look so much nicer when she washes it!

My posts are shocking today. I don't think any of them make sense - feel like I'm thinking through cotton wool! Apologies girls!

    I know SG, 2 weeks ?

I'll be thinking of you too, but from North Wales instead!

Raef- My hairdresser told me not to wash my hair on the day too, but my hair gets greasy quickly so i'm a bit worried about this! Who wants to see a bride with greasy hair eh? ? I might just wash the front bit if you know what i mean!

I find my hair stays fresher if the hairdresser washes it which is why I'm going to let them do it the day before! ?. But, there's always dry shampoo if it does look a little greasy? Or you can get blotting sheets which may be worth trying before the day? If you have time! Good luck!

Im having my hair coloured, and cut the monday before the big day as it will give the colour time to settle. Tuesday or Wednesday will be fine.

I don't bleach my hair - just a semi perm colour all over so will be fine - don't want that 'just cut' look either...

Not a silly question at all Moomin when i spoke to my hairdresser the other day she suggested a week - 2 weeks for my hair as i have a quasi colour which means it will wash out until the hair follicles have enough colour, apparently the more healthy your hair is the more it will washout ....!!

Ive just gone from blonde to brown my natural colour in preparation for the big day and im on my 3rd colour now its amazing what a difference the condition of my hair is.
