Zuzickles, 1 May, 2012 at 12:48 Posted on Planning 0 14

Hi guys,

Im new so please be nice Smiley smile

I am thinking of singing at my own wedding (not sure though as not that confident). What do you all think of that idea? I would really appreciate any comemnts and also any past experiences if possible..

I dont even know yet what will I be singing, keep asking H2B what are his utmost favourite songs but none really fit into the wedding mood....

HELP!

Two friends just did that and it went down a storm. They did it well into the evening and after several glasses of wine so confidence wasn't an issue!

I think this is one of those difficult topics, as long as you are able to hit a note it could be lovely but i would say you need to make sure you practice & have lessons first even if you think you are fine.

Hmm honestly, I've always thought it's really cringey especially if its done as a serious/romantic/soppy thing where you're singing to your other half....on the flip side if its done as a jolly/tipsy/bit of a laugh thing then i'm all for it!

This. Only problem is it's not really going to come across jolly/tipsy if it's planned?

We went to a wedding and the bride sang the Mcfly Its All About You but sang its All About Stu (hubby). As she did it about 9 we were all very merry and all joined in at the end. Was fun but has to be good.

I'm not going to sing but doing something of a similar nature. I have been learning to play the guitar over the last few months and will be playing a song with our band, its one of mine and my OH favourite tracks. No one has a clue apart from the band so hopefully will get some great reactions as no one even knows i can play!!

Yeah, thank you green-claws-entertainment that's kind of exactly what i meant - noone really knows that i used to sing in choir or that i will be taking singing lessons if i man up to them - im hopoing it will be all about the moment of surprise when i walk onto the stage (or not) and start singing a song that means something to my h2b. Not sure yet which song, he has too many favourite ones.. And i cant keep asking which one is his most favourite coz he would know im up to something then Smiley smile

btw - good luck with your guitar, im sure you will do well!

This is interesting as I play in a jazz band and sometimes sing... the band will be playing at our wedding, our first dance will be Fly me to the moon and I was considering singing the first verse... but i can't decide if it is cheesy.. i may just go with having a play along in my wedding dress for a few numbers... so many decisions!!

I guess it depends on how confident you are as a singer and what song you choose to sing. I've been to a wedding where the bride sang a song and it went down brilliantly, but she was a pretty good singer.

Ha, think I'm just gonna ditch the idea of singing and save my pennies I would have spent on singing classes - thanks for your opinions ladies xx
