RIP, as a Mackem, on behalf of the NE I propose a day of mourning. He truly was a great man.

Just heard about this from a friend who's a Sunderland fan, who said "it blows". Really sad news. He was one of the few people who united the Geordies and the Mackems.

    Devastating news.

Bizarrly enough, this morning I hunted out a photo and programme my husband had signed by Sir Bobby with a congratulations message for us after our son was born. I brought them into work to sort out getting them framed.

RIP Sir Bobby. A true gentleman.

It's such a shame. I'm from the north east and I know a few people who went to the match on Sunday and said it was very emotional. I truly belive this match is what kept him going.

    RIP Bobby

Really sad. He put up a great fight.. I just hope that everybody that goes to St James' to pay their respects also remembers to give some money to his charity. He has done truly good things with his life RIP
