Skin preparation for the big day....

Fleur10, 31 October, 2010 at 13:02 Posted on Planning 0 42

So I've got to thinking, the wedding is 7 months away but before you know it the new year will be here and it wont be long! So, I was starting to think about my skin for the big day and if I should be doing some more skin care so I can look my best hopefully on the big day. I am prone to the odd break out before PMT time and just wondered what you ladies did and any advice on products you used leading up to your wedding. ?

Have you ever tried Liz Earle..hot skin and polish? You can get it in John Lewis and I swear by it. No breakouts in a long time and I usually do. It comes with a muslin cloth that you use to rub off the cleanser so takes all the cells away. £13 and lasts about a month.

I stopped using it for a few weeks as couldn't get to John Lewis, was bridesmaid and had a massive spot. ? xx

About 2 months ago i started having a dermalogica facial once a month. Plus im using dermalogica products everyday. i have pretty bad skin prone to acne. Unfortunatly it does cost me an absolute bomb but im definatly startng to reep the results in past week or so :-)

I get the odd spot or two still but highly recommend Johnson's Clean & Clear moisturiser.. It's gentle and non-greasy, making it ideal under makeup. I generally put it on at night in the summer - although my skin needs something heavier in the winter.

A good diet and exercise is good for your skin.. I also find having a sauna gives me a breakout of spots in the following days, so I would avoid that before your wedding!

my skin is great and I always get compliments on it. On my face I use lemons and fine sea salt. I don't normally use fresh lemons but the bottle or squeezy lemon juice. I get the round cotton pads, pour lemon juice on and salt on top and give my face a good scrub. At night I use virgin coconut oil to moisturise. On my body, 3 times a week I give myseld an olive oil and course sea salt scrub. I'm showering after zumba anyway and it takes 5 mins.
    all cheap but very effective

My sister has recommended Liz Earle to me a few times (she used to work for Molton Brown so knows her stuff) but I'd never got round to trying it. I've just gone on to the website and they've got a special offer on where you can order your cleanser, toner and moisturiser and you get a free eye treatment. So I expect to have that glowing bride look within a few weeks!

I say Liz Earle too - totally swear by it. I used to get a break out now and again and I've never had one since I started using this stuff.

Also, I was off work the week before my wedding and I didn't put a spot of makeup on (I wear makeup every day) and still carried on with my cleanse, tone and moisture routine and my skin was perfect on the day.

Drinking lots of water usually helps too. Oh and get plenty of sleep!!!!

Its funny I was thinking about this just the other day as next week it will be 6 months til my wedding and I was going to ask the same thing.

I have to say I have used Cleanse and Polish by Liz Earle and I really liked it, you can also get it from QVC online. I went for a facial a few weeks ago to get some tips and that really helped too.

I'm going to have to try this Liz Earle stuff!! My skin was perfect until I fell pregnant with my daughter and for the last two years I've been prone to really bad breakouts of spots. I have TWO right between my eyebrows right now and a patch on my jawline that always seems to flair up. It's less bad since I stopped using harsh cleansers like Clearasil and switched to Simple stuff, but it's not perfect yet.

I miss my lovely skin! Damn hormones!!

I've got three months to go and I've just decided to give up caffeine and sugary treats (well try!) as I really think this contributes to my break outs which over the last two months have been horrendous!!!!

I used to use Liz Earle about four years ago and am thinking I may just reorder some now as a treat for the run up to the wedding!

Well just ordered my Liz Earl winter/autumn kit with the free eye treatment. I also added the brightning mask as that seems to get a lot of good reviews.

Might get to be one of those brides that glows after all ...even if its only me and the OH that sees itSmiley smile

We are trained at work (spa) to do the following to clients when we do facials.......

treat the skin type with your cleanser and your toner

treat the skin concern or condition with your mask and moisturiser

dry and sensitive skin exfloliate 2x pw

    oily/combination-normal skin exfoliate 1x pw

use a seperate eye cream day and night

always remove excess cream/mask etc dont rub and rub awaay trying to get it all in the skin as the skin only absorbs what it needs

blot with tissue between each 'stage' eg...cleanse/exfoliate/tone/blot/apply face oil (if dry skin) and massage in/blot/apply mask/remove excess with cotton pads and blot/apply eye cream and moisturiser...

at work we use clarins which is amazing on your skin but is pretty pricey

    hope some of that helps??!

? Emma C!! i know hope everyone likes it after I mentioned it!!Commission would be handy for all my recent spends!!

I use it morning and night but more sparingly in the morning as I take all my makeup off before I go to bed. So when I wake up I use a small amount as there is nothing really to remove if you know what I mean!

I'm sure you will love it, i've converted friends and I'd also say it helps remove any spot scars too.

I'm sure they will and if not £13 isn't a huge waste of money. Thanks, thats good to know, I get random outbursts of spots so I'm liking this product the more I hear about it!

I used to be a receptionist for a beauty salon and have used the products they stocked for the last couple years which were great at first but to be honest I'm sick of them and Im starting to think they're full of more chemicals than they claim!

Cant wait to try this, I thought I would order the 100ml now and if I like it i'll buy more when we're in the UK in 3 weeks Smiley smile thanks for the info Mrs CJ, i'll let u all know what I think when it arrives! xxx
