Slightly embarrassing question: Spas

MadamRed, 29 June, 2015 at 18:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

OH and I have booked to go to a spa in the summer. I've never been to one before. Do women usually wear bikinis or are one-piece swimsuits the norm?

    Bikinis are fine.

Where have you booked? Love a nice spa!

Thanks. I hate buying swimsuits - one-pieces tend to be too short in the body, so they ride up my legs, not to mention anything which fits my bust is generally too small on my hips; but bikinis show my stomach, which I have serious body confidence issues with. Think I'll have to buy a few online and try them at home.

We've booked at The Belfry. They have a deal on LivingSocial at the moment - £75 for two inc afternoon tea.

Whichever you like. I wore a tankini last time I went to one which was a nice compromise.

In my experience most wear swimsuits but some do wear bikinis.

Given your particular body concerns - I have the opposite problem of short body - I think a tankini could be a great solution. You can generally mix and match them which means you can go for a different size top and bottom if you need to and get shapes that you're happy with.

Whatever you decide on I hope you have a fab time.

I love spa's, people generally wear what they are comfortable in. I have worn a bikini, tankini and swimsuit while visiting spas, no one really takes that much notice so I say wear what you are comfortable in and enjoy every minute!

Tankini's are a great compromise or look at the 40's style bikinis which have bigger knickers and are incredibly flattering.

I've heard good things about the belfry, hope you have a lovely time.

All the ones I've been to there have been lots of people in bikinis, not tankinis. It's honestly fine.

I went to a Belfry spa for my hen do. I wore a bikini (I always think swimming costumes make me look really flat chested) but all my friends wore a variety of different costumes. As others have said, just wear what you are most comfortable in.
