Tao, food is amazing, great atmosphere (and cocktails!) - brilliant for a special occasion.

Gramercy Tavern is really lovely too, totally different type of restaurant, more laid back but food is great and not too expensive.

    Enjoy ?

Jealous! We went to NY in November, loved it!

Don't go to TGI's unless you're feeling flush. It cost us $90 just for a main course each, one side dish and two non alcoholic drinks!

Not food recommendations but Zippy advised me to use this company if you want to go on a bus tour.

Last time I went to NYC it was whilst I was travelling, so we didn't go out for nice meals!

Here is a list of restaurants a top chef highly recommended in the Times (I saved the article for when Mr S eventually takes me back there!)

    Eleven Madison Park (posh) www.elevenmadisonpark.com

Waterfront Ale House (beer and food before a movie next door) www.waterfrontalehouse.com

    Posto (beer & pizza) www.postothincrust.com

    Tuck Shop (pies) www.tuckshopnyc.com

Torrisi (sandwiches during the day, Italian @ night) www.piginahat.com

    Nyonya (Malaysian) www.penangusa.com

Thai Son (Vietnamese) no website. On Baxter Street

Jing Fong (Cheap authentic Chinese) www.jingfongny.com

If you like steak (and lobster!) Keens is simply the best steakhouse ever. And it has an amazing history. Not cheap but completely worth it.

For romance, go over the Brooklyn bridge to The River Cafe. Food is amazing, and the view breathtaking. Get there early to look round their gardens and make sure you have a drink at the bar. So jealous!

For lunch, you should go to Lombardis if you like pizza. The first pizzeria to open in New York (in Little Italy....funnily enough!)

    Enjoy - I love NYC x

    Http://www.smithandwollensky.com/ - gorgeous but expensive

http://www.virgilsbbq.com/ - gorgeous bbq around the corner from times square

http://www.daveandbusters.com/ - great cocktails and good fast food

http://www.heartlandbrewery.com/Locations.php - fantastic beers, dotted all around the city, HB burger make fab (!!!) and cheap burgers (highly recommend the Kobe burger for $16)

And I'll ask my OH the name of our favourite sushi place when he comes downstairs from a work call

Also - if you fancy an adventure, get on the 7 line queens bound train at grand central or w42 and get off at Citi field/Willets Point and go to a baseball game

    Oh I Love NY.

Cant really advise places to eat, as we didnt really have the time to have what I would call a 'nice' meal! It was more lets eat and go!

Though you must must go to Magnolia Bakery (off of SATC) as the cupcakes and fudge cake was amazing.

Ooooooh and there was this place for amazing cheesecake which the bus tour guide told us and now I cant remember. It was near Times Square, I will rack my brain.

I LOVE NY you lucky thing!!! I would definitly recommend Alice's Tea Cup for afternoon tea 102 W 73rd St at Columbus Ave.

But my most favourite memory by a mile (and Ive been to NY twice!) is Smoke which is a little jazz club tucked away which will do late night supper as well. The food is basic but lovely and the staff and atmosphere sum NY up for me. I cant recommend in enough!!! You can email to book before you go which I would suggest as it cant seat more than 20 people https://smokejazz.com/

My only other suggestions is to invest in the Time Out guide to NY its so easy to use and with maps in the back you cant go wrong!

Suddenly Sri lanka and Maldives looks dull for my honeymoon!!! only kidding ?

Oooooo! So jealous we went to New York a couple of months ago! Loved it, really want to go back asap!! Fabulous place to Les Hailes, theres two restraurants, we went to the park avenue one! French bistro restaurant ran by chef Anthony Bourdain, it was brilliant! The Boathouse restaurant in Central Park for brunch is pretty special also! It was full of snow and the lake was all iced over and we had brunch looking out the window, magic!

Http://www.restaurantthalia.com/ Always visit here for a quick dinner with my girlfriends. It's fab as it's not expensive, great relaxed atmosphere, fantastic service and portions are typically American too!

I've been to their a couple of times (the one just off Times Sq) and its gone down hill I would say - I love the hot (savory) biscuits there tho ! You get a free basket of them before your meal and they are lush!
