Small details

Kat44, 6 November, 2010 at 22:15 Posted on Planning 0 11

I seem to be obsessed by small details and questions pop in my head at the oddest times!!

Ok, so it's not like I have to actually decide this now but...

these are my table number holders:

Do i have rectangular or oval card in them? (they will have our table letters stuck on them)

Tablecloth and chair covers will be white. Purple sashes and runner. Was thinking of having purple card in the table name holders with white lettering on them.

Our second colour is silver really but none of the table decs will be silver so do you think sticking with white and purple would be better for the tables?

TIA

I'm a detail freak too and proud of it lol. I actually think it's the details in the day that make a difference.

    Hi Sarah

They were from Confetti but don't seem to stock them anymore. I got mine off Ebay, there were 6 of them but I only found two auctions, the one I won and another one for 10 of them.

? @ Mrs CJ, Allgold and Kayl!!

So glad it's not just me lol.

I do also think the details make the day but when I mention to my mum about having mirror plates under the vases and tealights and scatter crystals and gel and floralytes, in co-ordinating colours, all to make the centerpieces look amazing, she looks at me like "why isn't a vase of flowers enough", I think she thinks its all unnecessary, but to me, it just wouldn't look complete!

    Thanks sarahb ?

OH MY GOD i've had that exact debate with my Mom!! Although, my H2B did suggest it so perhaps thats even more worrying - we are both as crazy as each other.

I went to a wedding and saw the vases being "plonked" down in the evening room from the marquee for the day - it looked awful, no thought to where exactly it should be, no mirrors, candles, rose petals! No thought!!

OMG I am actually a freak!!

? you're not a freak!! I'm just the same and I'm not a freak (at least I don't think so!! lol)

H2B isn't so bothered about the mirror plates etc but he suggested we have a mixture of clear/white and purple gel in the vases, just to add a bit of colour ?

If I'm completely honest, the thing I'm most worried about is not being there that morning to make sure every single last detail is exactly how I picture it in my head!! I'm so worried about letting people do it on my behalf and that they won't do it right...

oh god, I am a freak, you are right!

I know exactly the same feeling - bearing in mind I have 9 months still to go, I already have an excel which takes up 2 pages explaining what I want where and how it's going to be decorated.

I'm concerned as it's so long! I am just worried no one has the same level of attention to detail me and OH have. So much so that my mom and auntie have agreed to go and check the reception venue 2 hours before we leave for church in a bid to stop me from going to check it. And i've also asked if I can do some things myself which the venue would have done for us - put out knife and forks, plates, napkins...

I wanted to post about this the other day as I am worried that I may need to enlist an "on the day" wedding planner but I know I am being a complete control freak here.

? I love it!! You are sounding so similar to me!! and you're only 2 weeks before me, what's your date (it's not the 13th is it?)

I have spreadsheets for everything hun!! My H2B and family have taken to calling me Monica (from Friends, after her obsessive planning lol) ? - although I'm not as fussed about the cutlery and napkins etc!!

That's given me an idea about your mum and aunty though, I'm staying at my mums house and H2B will be at the venue but so will my aunty so I think I might ask her to check everything is as it should be. I want to set it up the night before but don't think the venue will let us!

I know I will have to give someone piccies of how I expect it to look!!

I know it makes me sound a little crazy and I'm also well aware that once the day arrives I will be too happy about marrying my man to be concerned about anything but I also know I will be a lot happier and relaxed about the day if I know everything looks 'perfect' to me ?

Our date's the 12th, I just wouldn't do the 13th! Not because I'm superstitious, but just because I didn't want all my guests saying - the 13th - your tempting fate etc!! It had to be that weekend though as August is the only time OH is guaranteed to have off work, the first weekend off could always be a bit too risky incase he is late coming on leave, and so in order to fit a 2 week honeymoon it had to be that weekend.

I have put all my spreadsheets into one linked spreadsheet so I technically only have one! haha. But it has many many tabs! lol. I am hoping we can get up the night before as we are a Friday wedding, i can't imagine them being rammed that day. Otherwise I may be having some kind of mini-breakdown on the morning! lol. I can imagine me in rollers getting my hair fone in my nice silk nightie in floods of tears and downing the champagne or stuffing my face with chocolate as I am getting into my nice white dress!!

I have been thinking about whether it is all going to matter on the day too, but if I'm 100% honest, me and OH have planned this to so much precision that we will know! haha. Perhaps not on the day but when I look at the photographs later.

I think I am definitely harboring some kind of OCD / Perfectionist disorder! But it's all good!
