Small things that make you happy

Knownowt, 19 June, 2009 at 07:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 74

I've just bought a new dressing gown- it's a waffle one from the White Company and it's LOVELY. Just putting it on makes me feel like I'm a White Co catalogue dweller, surrounded by crisp linen and ordered spotlessness.

Waht small things have made you happy recently?

Coming home to a clean house and beautifully made bed on a Wednesday after our cleaner has been. I make the bed every day obviously but I tend to do a quick sheet straighten and then throw the duvet back over - she does it like a good hotel and it is lovely to get in to it at the end of the day.

Ahh i love fluffy dressing gowns, I have an uber fluffy one from M&S, not quite as nice though!

I got woken up this morning my my cat purring in my ear and her whiskers tickling my cheek. she's so sweet and doesn't meow properly (its more like a squeak), that it didn't matter it was 5:30 am ? ?

ETA - i've just discovered H put a bit of chocolate in my lunchbag to have at lunchtime, which I would never normally have! sorry that's UBER?

The husband wakes me up with a coffee every morning, which I love.

Except this morning when I was up at 5am, so I made him one when he got up at 6.

Knowing that my OH can always make perfectly cooked runny boiled eggs and he cuts my 'soldiers' up just how I like them even though that's differently to how he likes his. 'tis my comfort food.

It may be nothing, but last night the baby settled herself back to sleep instead of escalating into a tizz and needing a feed. Last time she did that it led to a period of sleeping through the night- which would make me very happy indeed. <fingers crossed>

That I can fit in jeans that I couldn't do up a couple of months ago. I've only lost 9lbs but I feel great for it and its such an incentive to keep going.

I love new dressing gowns too!

Hi Doughnut! I'm okay thanks (off work ill though atm - long story!). House isn't finished. Very poor show almost 3 years on, but life has got in the way somewhat. We still have a couple of rooms to start (bedrooms) but it's a vast improvement (even in the bare walls and floors) on what we had when we moved it!
    How are you?

    Listening to the Lighthouse Family

Having customers (I work in a callcentre) tell me they hope I have a nice afternoon/evening/weekend. Makes me smile.

Receiving random/unexpected emails from my friends just saying "hi".

Booking a holiday - I need to do this!

Oh no! I remember it being very, erm, in need of modernisation ? We are moving into somewhere in need of some, but not nearly as much, modernisation as soon as the paperwork gets sorted. I'm working full time and studying half time so I'm sure we'll crack straight on with it ?

We had a wedding, me doing random shift-work, both working full time (plus extra hours quite a lot!). Also the fact that I have discovered I hate DIY in the process. ?

    It'll get done soon I'm sure. ?

    Good luck with yours. x

I have a teeny tiny pair of trousers (I use as a how slim I am gauge) that I last wore when I was a very small 10, if not size 8 about seven years ago. At the beginning of the year, I couldn't get them past my mid thighs. This morning I did them up. The camel toe and muffin top wasn't a pretty sight, but I got them done up. I will now be in a good mood all day. ?

I'm not sure this is not a marker of a very sad life but I can't tell you how happy I was to see a pee in a potty this morning ?

Oh and the thought that next week I'm going to have a proper night out with some mates.

Pretty shoes, they make me feel good and light and floaty.

Oh and the tap tap sound that the soles (not heels really) of shoes make on tiled/ stone floors, I love it. (I know that's a really odd one)

The glug glug of wine poured from a full bottle

seeing your user name reminded me! - last night I picked a huge bowl of cherries off our cherry tree, and we sat down and ate them - that made me happy, as they were so delicious - and free!!!

Lying on the daybed in my mum's lounge - the sun pours right into it and it's always so warm. Plus her house smells like my childhood!

Friday nights, MrH and I go to our favourite restaurant straight after work. The first sip of wine is great, seeing the food coming out of the kitchen is also very good!

Having just passed my test, I'm loving driving along straight roads in the country with good tunes on and the dog beside me, enjoying the breeze!

My daughter picking up a scented candle in a tin this morning, giving it to me whilst singing "Happy Birthday"*

She then saw a spider and did a lovely rendition of Incey Wincey Spider.

Pretending she was a dog and licking my face!!

I had a lovely time this morning from 5.45 onwards!!!!!!!!!!!!

*it's not my birthday, I think the candle reminded her of birthday cakes or it looks a bit like a cake.
