We still have snow (Brentwood , M25 area)

Roads are clear, but side roads & lanes are still covered. Forecast is for more on Thursday though, so if Essex CC decide to grit, yes he will get to you.

Still pretty thick where we are (Chelmsford, central Essex) We are semi rural though so the main roads may well be better. Depends where they're coming from, but as MrsJMP said, if the CC get their backsides in gear and get the gritters out they should be ok.

I'm sure that after the incident in the snow last time (lots of cars stuck on M11) they would have been better prepared. But maybe the fact it fell on a Sunday & that would mean extra pay.

We have to grit our own road, so we were ok, i did that on Saturday with a few neighbours, but every other road was/is a bloody nightmare.

Does government ever learn from past mistakes? My mum was stuck on the M25 for over 3 hours in 2003, coming back from Thurrock area. Nightmare.

Don't suppose you have any idea what the roads are like between Chelmsford & Basildon? A12/A130 specifically. H teaches in Basildon but school has been closed last 2 days. As we've had no more snow I'm presuming they'll be open again tomorrow, but the roads near us are horrific with ice (he went out to get petrol this evening and it took him 30minutes to do a 5 minute journey. His normal commute is 30 mins so if the roads are bad it will take him 2-2.5 hours to get in! And then the same back again.
