None in Bristol yet but bitterly cold & forecast later. Remember to check on neighbours & make sure they are warm enough & have enough supplies in.

Hi Sherrie - I'm sick of this white stuff now - we're snowed in this morning and most of Yorkshire/Lancashire has come to a grinding halt GGGRRRRR!!! Can't plan anything or set off anywhere other than local in case it comes down and you get stuck - fed up of it now - bugger off back to Siberia!

Took Paul 2 hours to do a 40 min journey to work this morning - it wasn't snowing in Dewsbury when he set off but he got caught in it on the way in Leeds. He works close to Leeds/Bradford Airport and it's always bad up there because it's high up. We've had about 3" so far... it's supposed to be heading South at lunchtime so beware everyone!!

We'll have it... London never gets any proper snow and could do with a couple of days off work to finalise the order of service...

OH MY GOODNESS!!! We have so much snow here in my little part of yorkshire.

My son has to get a bus to school, 6 miles away but his school is closed today. Also my parents were meant to be flying from Manchester to Tenerife later toaday but their flight is cancelled, infact I dont even know if they bothered setting off to the airport yet (they were meant to fly @ 3pm & are about 1.5 hrs away from manchester airport)

I really should be doing some work but I am just about to take my dog out (silly golden retriever who loves the snow) I am taking the sledge too, as we have some fab places here in the fields across the road to sledge down.

My son went back to bed when he found out that school was closed, so that just leaves me, my hubby & the dog to go have some fun in the snow.

I will try take some pics of it all & post up later

    Debbie

    xx

Same here Debbie - you're more exposed than us too! It's been non-stop since 6am and still coming down thick and fast - big cotton woolly balls!! Not seen snow like this since I was little. Manchester airport are assessing the situation at midday but so far, they are all grounded - hope your parents manage to get away to the sun.

Have been poorly with a bad throat infection so decided at half six this moring to phone in sick - no snow.

At half 8 i get a 'round robin' txt from work saying school closed. Looked out the window to 5inches and a full on blizzard. Glad i didn't make the effort to get up now Smiley smile

still snowing now but much slower.

My fella went to work at 7 and he made it ok but wondering how he's going to get home now as he relies on the train or bus. South Yorkshire absolute chaos!!!

Hope everyone is warm inside x

We've had a few inches overnight too - I was really suprised when I opened the blinds this morning - wasn't expecting more snow.

Luckily I'm still off my work although my classes start back tonight so I'm supposed to be teaching at 6pm. Might cancel that though - still feel crap and going to the docs at 2.30pm this afternoon.

Stay indoors girls & keep safe. It looks like it is going to get worse, they have predicted it could last at least another 10 days. I am just going to get some shopping for my parents to keep them stocked up.

Hope everyone's loved ones get home safe and sound

We've got severe snow here in Derbyshire and the wedding is a couple of days away. I'm having kittens ? We're in the suburbs and the roads are bad, the venue is half an hour away in the middle of the Peak District. It's a mile and a half off the main road (and by main road I mean the only road through the village, its not exactly a 'main' road iyswim) and then half a mile up a single track. I am seriously getting worried now. Holy heck, this could be a disaster.

I work in Holbeck in Leeds & I left my house (in Castleford) @ 7.30am & got to work @ 10.00am it usually takes me about half an hour to get to work.

They are letting us go home @ 2.30pm though so it's not all bad.

Bad news - im supposed to start my placement tomorrow but the schools gonna be closed☹️, oh well there's always next week if the snows stopped by then!

Managed to get through to my parents on my mums mobile & she said that they were almost at the airport & had no problem getting through, they were going to ring me & let me know if they get off ok today.

Have had a FAB time sledging earlier this morning but hard gong on the hills, as we were the only ones out & had to get the snow flattened first to get a good run down..

It snowed till about 11am here then stopped till about 5 mins ago but its only really light now.

Decided to take the dog out after our sledging & what normally takes an hour to walk has taken nearly 2 hours to go, as its really hard going under foot. Its all fields & country lanes here so not many people on foot.

Will post the pics up later

Hope everybody is ok & keeping nice & warm

    Debbie

Nothing down here in Hertfordshire but expect there will be later. Supposed to be going to the office in Luton tomorrow but will see what the weather does. I have the facility to work from home which I do most days anyway, I'm going to do a food shop tonight after fat club though just to be on the safe side!

Terrible here in Leeds but then that's already been said! We're not too far from the airport on high ground and it hasn't stopped all day.

Hugo Brambles, I've got all fingers and toes crossed for you that it eases. Have you spoken to the venue at all? It might be worth giving them a ring. Also, have you many people needing to travel far? I really feel for you ☹️

Thanks girls! I emailed them yesterday and they said they were operating as normal with staff/deliveries getting through ok but obviously said there was heavy snow forecast for today. I've not emailed today as there's not a lot they can tell me really, I can guess how bad it is with them. I can only hope it clears enough for Friday. We've not got people coming from that far away, just over 45 miles is probably the furthest. To be honest its not the that thats the problem but rather more the closer to the venue the more rural it is so I think we're all going to have problems! ?
