So close but I am torn!

HeavyMetalMaiden, 20 August, 2014 at 23:06 Posted on Planning 0 13

I know that you may not be able to help me - I just need to get it out!

Since OH is forking out (ha) for the catering, I can afford to slightly up my TOG budget Smiley smile But I am torn between:

TOG A) Incredibly reputable, very well known in the alternative wedding industry. She can cover our wedding for 8 hours & is only an approx hour and half drive away from us. She was my dream TOG prior to getting engaged. She has photographed a wedding in the style I am after, I love her work.

TOG B) I fell in love with one of his recent weddings, his work is great and very fun! He will be around from early 'til late at night, which of course is great! He is from approx 2.5 journey away.

They are both pretty much the same price, with TOG A being £90 cheaper. Do I go with my head (B) or my heart (A)?!?!? Oh I don't know what to do! With B I get more for my money, but I have had my heart set on A for months and months! I don't really want to out them, as I am in contact with them at the moment, but I LOVE both of their work Smiley smile

I am so CRAP at making desicions!!!

Personally l think you should go with your heart. Which of them is more"you"? Which do you think will make the most of where you are getting married and understand you both ultimately getting the best pictures?

Have you spoken to both properly (not just about money, time etc) to make sure you would gel with them?

Flip a coin on it. Whilst the coin is in the air you'll have decided which side you want it to land on. If you haven't once it has you might feel that you're pleased or wished it went the other way.

Have you met both the photographers in person?

I'd recommend looking at albums/pictures from more than one wedding that they have done

Have another good look at both photographers work/galleries, but I would say A) go with your heart....you even said - she was your dream photographer before you got engaed and you love her work. Hve you spoken to her to make sure you like her in person?

Thanks everyone. I have looked at their entire portfolios the other day. I will try the coin thing too! I have chatted to TOG a and she seems lovely and excitable!

I wonder if it is worth asking if she can do some sort of deal if I offer to pay full price now?? What do you reckon?

I would seriously meet both photographers, remember they are going to be with you all day, you might not even like your first choice once you have met her or vice versa?.

Whilst I would say go with your heart, I agree with Bruce...you have to meet them both to make a real decision. We even met with our photographers. Getting that connection with them is so important.

You could always see how much A would charge for extra coverage too as an option.

Yep :-) I have decided to go with my heart! And I am super happy about it! Going to phone her in the week, although I have no idea what to ask or say! :-)

Definitely arrange a meeting so you can go through everything with her and look through the contract together before parting with any money. I'd be very cautious about paying up front to anyone in the wedding industry, especially if you have a while to go till your wedding. Do you have wedding insurance in case of the worst case scenario? I'm not slating wedding suppliers because I'm one myself but it's best to air on the side of caution when handing over large amounts up front.
